Publisher's summary

Exhausted and sick of all the killing and death he's seen, Dave Kramer returns to Quiet Valley after the Civil War, anticipating a happy reunion with his friends and family. Instead he finds his hometown an empty shell of what it once was. Dave finds it's also a more dangerous valley after an attempt on his life by members of the guerrilla band who have taken control of the town. He's come home for peace but found another war, with gang leader Jedd Scott. So be it. One thing Dave knows a lot about is war.

After a desperate shoot-out, Scott escapes from Quiet Valley with his gang only to find that wherever he goes, Dave Kramer is hot on his trail. Now it's Dave's turn to hunt the hunter and only one will survive.

Hunt the Hunter Review

I am an old cowboy, from Colorado, and I have always loved cowboy things including movies and books.. I am a huge fan of Louis Lamont and have read, with great enjoyment, most of his books. It is with that same pleasure I listened to Hunt the Hunter. I loved the title and the location in the story from which it came. I loved Spalsbury’s descriptions of people, events, environment, and relationships.

Excellent

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This is a great western. Well written and well narrated. Not on par with Lamore and Gray but in the same ballpark. He can only get better. I really enjoyed it.

So much sadness and death!

Nothing like a good western for a change of pace. Our protagonist, Dave Kramer returns home to Quiet Valley from the Civil War, only to find the place a near ghost town. A gang of guerrilla raiders had taken over the town leaving destruction and a few survivors. Kramer looks for his old love Betty, but she is found dead along with her mother from cholera, which had ravished the town. Kramer decides to move on with his new friend Ted but is ambushed and left for dead. Kramer knew about war, he had been fighting for his life for the past four years. Now he was at war once again. He followed the gang, followed the trail of death they left behind them. So much sadness, so much death. Retribution became Kramer’s and Ted's mantra. Will they succeed in tracking down the gang and its leader? I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
