A #1 Audible bestseller
Two hundred years ago a loyalist family fled to England to escape the American War of Independence and seemingly vanished into thin air. American genealogist Jefferson Tayte is hired to find out what happened, but it soon becomes apparent that a calculated killer is out to stop him.
In the Blood combines a centuries-old mystery with a present-day thriller that brings two people from opposite sides of the Atlantic together to uncover a series of carefully hidden crimes. Tayte's research centres around the tragic life of a young Cornish girl, a writing box, and the discovery of a dark secret that he believes will lead him to the family he is looking for. Trouble is, someone else is looking for the same answers and will stop at nothing to find them.
In the Blood is the first in the Jefferson Tayte mystery series.

What did you love best about In the Blood?
The characters were real, I love that JT wasn't like a Green Beret turned Genealogist. And you could see the story developing but not so obvious. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, I drive for work and listened on one trip.Great character

Where does In the Blood rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I am happy to have found another series that I am excited about. Characters are real, and the historical possibilities are intriguing. It is as interesting as my usual mystery and spy novels that I usually choose.Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
I enjoyed the main character's encounters with new people and the process used to gain information which drives the plot as the clues are revealed bit by bit.I figured who the main villain was about half way through, but this did not spoil the suspense, as the villain was looking for the same information as Tayte. The plot also had a few surprised scattered throughout the book.
Which character – as performed by Simon Vance – was your favorite?
Tayte, Amy, and Kapowski who brought humor and possible complications to the plot. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Amy discovers what happened to her husband.Any additional comments?
I recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense and mystery without the super hero or seductive scenes. A very good listen.Kept my attention and informed me of possiblilties

If you've ever looked into your own family history, you know you have to pay attention to the names to keep everyone straight. The family history in this story is no different, but it easily holds your attention. Definitely worth the listen.
