Publisher's summary
A spiraling agent with unparalleled skills. A murderer with enhanced intelligence. Who is the hunter… and who is the prey?
Zach Axton is in a dark place. After the brutal murder of the love of his life, the haunted FBI agent’s slender will to live is only due to the care of his canine companion. But he’s grudgingly pulled back into work when a prisoner in an experimental government program designed to increase brain functioning escapes in a violent and bloody confrontation.
Teaming up with his former partner and a beautiful assistant district attorney, Axton uses his specialized skills in hunting serial killers to track down the brilliant psychopath. But the secret to his success in knowing the minds of murderers could be the very thing that leads him to his own destruction…
Can this skilled operative take down a man who is faster, smarter, and more dangerous before his world explodes?
Infliction Point is the cinematic first book in the Zach Axton thriller series. If you like flawed characters, fast-paced action, and unputdownable drama, then you’ll devour Mark Hacker’s riveting adventure.

Ashley Perrin is fresh out of college and starting a job as a community liaison for the Third District–the city’s only sector with more alien residents than humans. Ashley’s barely found where the paper clips are kept when she’s beset with constituent complaints–from too much noise at the Annual Lupidian Celebration Parade to a trip-and-fall chicken to a very particular type of alien hornet that threatens the very city itself. And if that’s not terrifying enough, Ashley is next up at the office karaoke night.

Story
Louise Manson is the newest student at Highfield Manor, Dublin’s most exclusive private school. It seems nearly perfect: the high arched window alcoves and tall granite pillars, the overspill of lilac at the front gate and the immaculate playing fields, the giggling students, the dusty, oak-lined library, and the dark, festering secret she has come to expose. At first, Lou’s working-class status makes her the consummate outsider, though all that changes when she is befriended by the beautiful and wealthy Shauna Power.

Captivating, Exciting!
The government transforms a killer into a brilliant, vicious, and elusive killer using experimental drugs. FBI agent Zach Axton, who is struggling with a personal loss, leverages his unique and insightful expertise in understanding serial killers to track down this newly enhanced criminal.
The author, Mark Hacker, weaves a spine-chilling thriller featuring realistic characters, a gripping storyline, and intense action. Hacker is meticulous in developing genuine characters and crafting smoothly flowing dialogue and an immersive storyline. The plot twists are unexpected and tantalizing. The enhanced killer’s internal dialogue exposes his true character, immersing the listener deeply into the narrative through a captivating and engaging writing style.
The narrator, Eric G. Dove, provides an exceptionally compelling performance, intensifying the narrative and captivating the listener. The use of deliberate pauses and intense emotion provides a deeply immersive experience that sends chills down one’s spine. His distinct voices and nuanced intonations remain consistent, allowing him to fully bring each character to life.
This is the first in a series and I have to say, I cannot wait to hear the next action-packed thriller of Zach Axton.

Fun premise ... not the best execution.
Interesting premise but after a few mis-used words, and dragged out scenes, rife with ‘telling’ instead of showing, I realized I had to force my way through, was I was not only bored, but annoyed with the lack of edits.
It’s slow-paced and doesn’t always make perfect sense. No stars for boredom. The robotic droning on of this narrator didn’t help.
Audio:
Not good. At first, I honestly thought this was AI because it sounded so robotic, but looking closer, I was shocked to see a human credited with narrating this book. No stars.
