Publisher's summary

Jules Monroe is a woman whose hard work and dedication has built a rewarding life for herself and her family. Now in her late 50s, she gives selflessly to her husband, kids, community, and their charter business. But everything comes to an abrupt halt when her body says enough, and her mind yearns for respite and a place to hide from past hurts.

Oldest son, Jonah Monroe, is a veteran haunted by a childhood tragedy. His past includes things he isn't proud of and can't quite shake. When his chance to be a hero finally arrives, it comes with strings attached. Will he accept the kindness of strangers to help bring his family back together, or will his demons continue to be his downfall?

Maui isn't always the safe paradise it's made out to be, and when ancient island superstitions threaten to rob the Monroe family yet again, they must all find a way to deter the impending disaster.

Into the Blue

Another good book by Kay! I enjoyed the storyline, the mysteries held within. However I felt the book started off slow and was a bit drab in the beginning. It picked up, the characters started coming in to play more. I liked having this book be from Jules perspective, and hearing more about her past life.

Without getting into the book, I will say it’s a nice way to finish off the series.

Well done Kay!!!

Heart Strings are pulled

This is ABSOLUTELY CAPTIVATING AND your heart strings are in full effect. Just when you think that there can't be anymore strings left to pull, Ms Kay and Xe pulls harder and deeper. This is an amazing storyline of 3 generations, well really 4, but you'll see why I say 3, and it captivates you from the first sentence. What a way to pull you into novel #3. ABSOLUTELY captivating and creative writing that draws you in and keeps you entertained for hours. It's DEFINITELY a must read. You will LOVE this.

Great Trilogy

Great trilogy. Really wish this was an ongoing series. Would love to hear Jonah’s, Juniper’s, & Marie’s children’s stories. There are so many great characters that we’re left wondering about.

BEAUTIFUL STORY SET IN MAUI…

I LOVED the first two books in this series, but I think THIS book was my favorite.

After reading the first two books, I felt like all the characters were family.

I also loved that much of this story was told from Jules’ point of view while she was trapped in her own body after a stroke. I’ve always wondered what (if anything) stroke victims think and feel before they wake up. Where do they “go?” What can they hear? What do they know about what’s happening to them? Do they think at all or are they just in blackness, in limbo?

In Jules’ case she was not. I found reading about her thoughts and feeling to be fascinating.

The same day Jules had her stroke, her daughter Kira (with husband Noah) goes missing.

Her brother Jonah, a war vet with PTSD, is put in charge of the efforts to try to find Kira. Jonah HATES having to deal with crowds (people in general), but he has little choice but to do so in order for his dad Noah to remain at the hospital with Jules. Youngest sister, Lonnie is there to help Jonah and to keep him on an even keel. All the family and friends from books one and two are there to assist in finding Kira.

Jonah is looked at hard by the local police as a suspect in his sister’s disappearance — not only was he the last one to see her before she disappeared, but he was also the last one to see his baby sister Quinn (then known as Nama) alive before she was swept off a boat in a bad storm many years ago as a toddler and presumed dead.

The story alternates between Jules and Jonah. Jules knows something has happened to Kira, and in her mind’s eye, she SEES her daughter. She knows where Kira is, she knows she’s in danger, but she is in a coma and can’t tell anyone what she knows.

This was a wonderfully heartwarming story of family, love, forgiveness and community.

About the narrator, Xe Sands… It seems (from reading other reviews of other books), that people seem either love her or hate her.

I happen to LOVE her and think she was the perfect choice to voice the part of Jules.

I highly recommend all three books in this series. I wish there were a fourth book!
