Publisher's summary

From USA Today best-selling author of The Slaver Wars comes a new military science fiction series.

The Trellixian Empire was constantly expanding, seeking new worlds for its ever-increasing population. If worlds were discovered with existing sentient populations, they were cleansed to make room for colonization. Hundreds of budding civilizations had been eliminated by Trellixian battle fleets.

On Earth, years in the past, a scout ship fleeing from the Trellixians crashed. Scientists investigating the wreckage discovered what the Trellixians had done to the world the scout ship escaped from. They also discovered it was only a matter of time before the Trellixians reached Earth.

A daring plan was implemented involving the major world powers. They would prepare in secret for the coming of the alien invaders. The only question was, how could one world resist a galactic empire?

Torture

There is little to say about this book. Even less that’s good. To be fair the concept isn’t bad but the story spend too much time going from point a to point c forgetting that there was a point b somewhere in the middle. As to Liam Owen (the reader.... can’t be called a narrator) if there was one one way to drive off an invading superior hoard of aliens...... have this guy read them a bedtime story.... that will send them home in a hurry. In all honesty it was difficult to grasp how good or bad this book was because of the pitiful reading. The reader sounded happy when portraying the death of a family member. I would live forever not to have this guy read the eulogy at my funeral.

At the end of this book there was an ominous “end of volume one” message. If the publisher and author are serious then I have some advice. Have this book re read by someone with some chops and reissue it to all of the current owners whilst inviting them to the dawn execution (behind the outhouse) of this narrator.

Unless you like torture don’t touch this book with a 10ft bargepole.

Unable to finish

The story could be interesting enough, but the author's execution of the alien invasion genre is poorly written, predictable and eventually boring. Constant repetition (descriptions, phrases and character commentary) makes it feel like sections were copied and pasted, copied and pasted, copied and pasted...

Mr. Weil, you need a good editor.

the narrator could be better

This sucks, that they made Garcia look like an ignorant individual. I would never expect one of my Captains to act this way, I have never seen this.

Disappointed

First off, I appreciate the hard work and creative mind that can write and publish any book. That gets two stars alone.
There are glaring plot holes in this story arc. If a book is listed as Military-Sci-Fi, there should be a solid grasp of military doctrine.
This book would be better described as an Young Adult or Children's Sci-Fi.
The narration leaves much to be desired. Good voice, but sentence emphasis and pausing was atrocious.
All is not lost, I just believe the author needs a bit of guidance and a good nudge of research in this category.
One example would be the continuous use of " ... feels the loss (insert dead loved one)." everytime the character is focused on.

Garbage, pure and simple.

The author has no imagination, creativity, or ability to describe anything INTERESTING with any detail. instead the majority of this book is just a long list of military weapons both real and imagined (that matter very little to the "plot" of the story), and superfluous descriptions of military personnel numbers, placements and movements. The reader can't invest in the story because there are no pertinent characters with personality, they are all single sided static characters with no emotion, defining traits, or depth. The aliens blow up millions and you just don't care, because the author doesn't care. honestly couldn't get past chapter 8...too awfully written. What morons would publish this trash? I pity the voice actor who had to read this fictional facsimile of a military protocol manual.
