Publisher's summary

She has never told anyone that she secretly longs for someone to come home to at night. A man who would be there for her when she feels sad, and when she needs someone to wrap their arms around her.

Katy Monroe is a 25-year-old defense lawyer from a small town in lower New York, who graduated at the top of her class from Stanton Law school in record time. She takes her job very seriously, and usually works so many hours that she barely sees her apartment more than three times a week. Unfortunately, she gives her heart to a man who could never possibly love her and ends up messing up everything horribly. Of course, that is precisely when she runs into someone from her past.

Jake Hollister is a man who Katy thought she could never be in the same room with, let alone be her roommate and saving grace. But of course, desperate times lead to desperate measures, as she finds in this romantic comedy of a man who always knows best, and a woman that should have known better.

If you love sweet tales that give you the feels with comedy thrown in for sheer fun, then this is for you.

Sweet Rom-Com

Katy has a bigger heart than I do. Because I don't think I ever could fall in love with my high school bully. Lol! But I'm not the type to offer forgiveness. This was a sweet romcom. I wish it would've been longer because I would like to see more of where the relationship went and how it actually developed. Will definitely look for more books by this author.

Second Chances

It Had to Be You a brilliant romantic comedy that has to do with forgiveness and second chances at happiness. Katy has had to deal with a lot in just a few short days, finding out her boyfriend is cheating on her, an accident, and running into her old high school bully. I forgot to mention he is rich and hot. Her life is in a complete spiral, and Jake Hollister arrival only adds to the turmoil. He says he's changed and wants to make amends, but should she trust him or run away? I won't give away any juicy spoilers, but I will definitely say this always follow your heart, but keep your eyes wide open. I absolutely loved this story because somewhere down the line, we all have been there and needed to make tough choices. I received this book for free upon my request. I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased review here of my own volition.

The narrator

It was a good book, I just did not like the reader, I think she could've done a lot better than what she did but other than that it was a cute book

Nice story!

This is a cute enemy to lovers short read that presents the story of two people who were enemies in high school, but discover that they are anything but holding a grudge. Katy Monroe has never gotten over being taunted by Jake Hollister in high school and when they run into each other again, that same hostility is still there. Jake is mega-rich and has obviously done well for himself. He is totally clueless about hurting Katy's feelings and, once she gets him to understand, he changes into an honorable man. When he sideswipes her as she runs a red light, Katy immediately remembers him and recognizes a sad look in his eyes. Jake does make a grand gesture to show Katy how much he cares. At the same time, he blindsides her with a request to marry him in order to retain his position as CEO of the company. He treats it as "business is business" and it's totally out of character. All this time, Katy's thoughts have been on a pendulum, one minute hating Jake and the next minute wishing that what they had was real. In a way, it was if she had a personality transplant because things she said and did were so far out of character. Jake does get his wish and, suddenly it's clear how Katy really feels about her. The narration by Nichole Peterson is excellent. With a clear, well-modulated voice and perfect pace, she brings each of the characters to life.

Sweet, quick read

Imagine running into your high school bully, then imagine falling in love with them but with a condition. This was a sweet read. I actually wish it was longer so I could have more detail especially in regards to the long term relationship these two would have had. This was the perfect length for a quick afternoon distraction. Katy is a very likable character. I didn't think I would end up liking Jake but the way he treated Katy made you open up your heart to him. Fun read, looking forward to reading more by MD.

A man from her past

A light romantic book between a struggling young woman and a man from her past. The book is good but has a few parts of the storyline that get dropped before the end with no resolution. The reader is let to guess on how these were resolved. Overall a good read.

Quick little nugget

What a quick sweet listen. It starts with everything in her life going wrong, ending with everything so right and how is should be. I enjoyed the story very much. New to me author and narrator which did a great job.

Sweet, short listen

This was a sweet story that grabbed my interest fairly quickly. I enjoyed it and looked forward to hitting play again whenever I had a chance.

The narration was clear and easy to understand at all times, even in a noisy environment.
