I have read all of Maria and Craig Emmerich’s books, and most of the books available by other popular authors. I bought both: the paperback version and audible( it is worth every penny, Craig did an amazing job)The following reasons are why I consider “Keto” to be their best work, and my personal favorite:
1) This book explains the science behind the diet in a readily understandable fashion and provides the tools necessary to follow the diet for weight loss and incorporate it into your lifestyle for long term success.
2) They explain in detail why the traditional food pyramid is unhealthy and inferior to the ketogenic food pyramid.
3) It explains the importance of hormones, the impact the foods that we eat have on them, and why the obesity epidemic has gripped the Western diet due to it.
4) This book gives the reader a quick and ready plan to get into ketosis and stay on the plan long term. It provides a path to weight loss and contains an essential section on how to modify the diet to help with the treatment of various illnesses that are often comorbid with obesity.
5) They clarify the common myths associated with the ketogenic diet, false perceived dangers, and bad habits that are spread on the internet that stall weight loss.
6) This book explains in detail multiple options for how to overcome stalled weight loss, and also explains intermittent fasting and its various benefits.
7) They give excellent advice on how to continue an exercise regimen and burn fat more effectively than someone working out on a traditional carbohydrate rich diet.

I have been Keto for 3 years for cancer therapy. I find there are many different versions of Keto. I prefer the Healthy Keto, aka “The Emmerich Way”!

Second, since I was able to speed up the narration, I didn’t notice any particular issues with Craig’s narrating. Maybe they’re there but at a 1.5 speed, it wasn’t noticeable.
Third, I really loved when Maria chimed in with her stories. Many times audio books can start to get monotone with one narrator so this broke things up and kept my interest.
I’ll most likely go through my physical copy of this book to make notations in many of the sections to use with clients.

Both Craig and Maria have an infectious passion for teaching Keto as a life style of eating that's not just for losing weight. I lost 16lbs on my first round of the 30 day cleanse last year and I'm looking forward to a second round incorporating her latest Dairy Free Keto book to shake things up a bit. I absolutely trust Maria's knowledge regarding a safe, easy to follow ketogentic way of eating resulting in a life style of eating that rewards you with more than instant gratification; I haven't felt this good since I was.... well never really!
