Publisher's summary

Killing Comfort is a tactical approach to living your best (uncomfortable) life. It is not a fairy tale or a story for your entertainment. This book is for those ready to roll up their sleeves and put in the work.

We all know that working hard or getting out of our comfort zone is beneficial. But why do some work hard and still end up with marginal results?

If all it takes to truly succeed is consistency and hard work, there would be a lot more millionaires and six-pack abs out there. While consistency and hard work are big pieces of the puzzle, they are not the only pieces.

So, that's where this book comes in. The concept of doing hard things is not new.

But, knowing what hard things to pursue seems to be the real challenge, or what this book refers to as, the intentional pursuit of discomfort. The intentional pursuit of discomfort is not the same thing as simply putting yourself in uncomfortable situations. It's putting yourself in the right uncomfortable situations for exponential growth. It all starts with the simple idea of killing comfort. At its best, comfort has eased you into mediocrity. At its worst, comfort is killing you. It's time we take the fight to comfort.

This book tells the stories of men and women who were just like you. Men and women who struggled with all that life demands, but found a way to push forward, albeit uncomfortably. We will also look to poetry and films, ancient texts, and a massive amount of scientific research. Jerred weaves in stories and experiences as well as data from tens of thousands of people who have utilized the services of his company, End of Three Fitness, over the last decade to paint a picture of what comfort has cost us, and more importantly, what to do next.

Killing Comfort covers three domains:

  • The traps: Avoiding the six disguised forms of comfort
  • The truth: Learn the process of intentional and purposeful discomfort
  • The results: A tactical approach to a better (uncomfortable) life

A Tactical Guide to Self Discipline

If you are feeling stuck in life or you have no direction, read this book. It gives you a framework and actionable steps to start achieving your goals, bit by bit. It's not another get rich quick book, rather the no b.s. approach to maximizing your life through the means that actually work. This book is chuck full of quotes, research, and stories of legends like Edison and Rockefeller. I'll be rereading this book.

A Quick Book for a Long Life

The ideas expressed in this book are of the utmost importance. We must become comfortable with the idea of discomfort. Finding your "one thing" is necessary in order to achieve it. Without structured discomfort, it will be nigh on impossible to reach your goals. "Daily over decades" and hard things make our lives more worth living. I look forward to putting these steps into action in my own life and the life of my family.

Really dig the material and the message. Loads of great information. Did not care for the reader (sorry Mr Moon) but I’m Excited to try and apply the message to my life/health/fitness and see what happens.

It is good but not great

This is a good story. I have listened to his pod cast over the years off and on. He will get you motivated but there are better authors at it like David Goggins books.
