Publisher's summary

For over three decades, Rohini Ralby has shared the spiritual practice she learned through years of one-on-one instruction from her Guru, Swami Muktananda Paramahamsa. As her practice has deepened, she has found different ways to give outward expression to inward experience and understanding.

In her 2012 book, Walking Home with Baba: The Heart of Spiritual Practice, Rohini interspersed illuminating stories from her life and discipleship with chapters on tools and techniques for the spiritual practice her Guru taught her. Here, in the first of two volumes, she gathers a collection of prose teachings, poems, and paintings, organized thematically to explore the dimensions and stages of true spiritual practice, or sadhana. Showing not only the depth and discernment she has gained through the grace of her Guru, but also an artistry informed by her many years of training and education in dance as well as her mastery of Tai Chi Chuan, these pieces communicate the lived actuality of spiritual practice, and serve as lamps along the path.

Living The Practice is Alive for Us

In this generous and beautiful book, Rohini Ralby clarifies our understanding and extends a hand, in a very practical, inspiring, varied and approachable way, to anyone wanting to grasp it and move forward along the path toward knowing who we truly are. It teaches us what to actually do. The expert guidance in the prose, poems and paintings comes with the Grace Rohini Ralby shares, which she received from her Guru, Swami Muktananda, and Aaron Ralby's engaging narration seamlessly conveys the life in her writings. As she states in the introduction: “Let yourself be drawn to particular ones. Through them, Baba’s teaching, and therefore something of Baba himself, will be transmitted; you need only be willing to receive it.” And so it is.

A true guide to living Love

Living the Practice Volume One: The Way of Love shows the internal practice necessary to know God and attain Love. Rohini Ralby’s decades of experience and profound respect and love for her own Guru, Swami Muktananda, shine through clearly and beautifully on every page, providing concrete guidance on how to actually do spiritual practice. I love that I can explore this book in multiple ways – in or out of sequence – and keep digging through its many layers of meaning. I honestly experience happiness and Love because of Rohini and what she teaches in this book. Alongside her books Walking Home with Baba and the accompanying Living the Practice Volume Two: The Warrior of Love, this book is one of the most important and deeply cherished books that I own, both in its print and audio versions.
