About this listen

Lost at the far side of the sun, two pilots, five space tourists, and one fluffy dog explore a miniature planet steeped in mystery. The planet is small enough to circumnavigate in a few hours. Treetop clouds form in unusual shapes. And what's that rumble each morning? Even their remarkably perceptive pup hasn't figured that one out. Will they be marooned forever? It will take scientific ingenuity and a good sense of humor, but these marginally clever castaways stand a chance. And even if they don't make it home, being lost was never more fun.

A wonderful story

This is a wonderful story with interesting characters and situations. The narrator did a great job too.

Very fun adventure!

The only thing that would make this fun, often silly adventure better is to be made into an unabridged audio dramatization! Enjoyed every minute of it.

vibes of Lost and Hitch-hiker's Guide

I very much enjoyed the first half of this book - many lol moments. but it took an annoyingly weird but banal turn and later became a little too realistic (I don't need my scifi to remind me how depressing the world is!). but improved again towards the end and the lol moments were pretty constant throughout.
Sad to say but the dog was the best character and I wish the whole book had been written from his perspective - those were the best bits.
If I'd had to pay for it I'd have been annoyed, but was fine as a complementary read. although may be a good option if you're scrounging for something to read - there are definitely worse books and it has a good long run time. the narration was excellent

A Light-Hearted Adventure Story

If you’re looking for a light-hearted, non-serious adventure story, then this book is for you. Think something along the lines of Gilligan’s Island and The Gods Must Be Crazy, and set your expectations from there. Personally, I enjoyed listening to it during my grueling commutes. I didn’t have to think too hard or listen too carefully. But, it was enough to provide a nice, enjoyable escape while trying to cope with the LA traffic.

I got about halfway through this and gave up

I got about halfway through this ridiculous story before I gave up. yes there are some funny parts but most of it it's just kind of slapstick and the storyline just kind of goes off on a murder mystery. I was kind of hoping for a bit more sci-fi not who done it.

Love the Narrator, not so crazy about the story

Lost at L3 can't decided what type of book it wants to be. It starts out as a bit of a space opera with the characters stranded on a small planet, but then it goes off on a metaphysical bend, where some of the characters don't believe they are real and start describing how they would write the things that were happening into a book called "Lost at L3". Then it swings back to a David and Goliath story as an incredibly unrealistic billionaire is brought in as the "bad guy".

I'm trying to avoid any spoilers, so let me summarize by saying that if I didn't love Amanda Ronconi's reading as much as I do, I would never have finished the story. The book feels very disjointed as if the two writers each took parts of the story and they just didn't fit together. So much so that I found myself completely uninterested in finishing the book several times.

Good read/listen. I liked the characters.

I liked the story even though the celestial mechanics were rather unscientific. That won't detract from your enjoyment unless you're a science geek like me.

Don’t Miss This One!

I’m that person, yes I read the last page of a book before reading it! And if I had a physical copy of this book I’d have loved the last page! The last line brought happy tears to my eyes! It’s a full circle story and I personally love that! I’m also a big fan of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to The Galaxy and this book scratched that itch for me! Definitely comedy but full of depth and interpersonal storytelling with meaning. I wasn’t sure if this book would be my style but so glad I didn’t pass on it!

I tried

But it is just not my cup of tea. Perhaps a younger audience would appreciate the simplicity in storytelling.
