About this listen

His heart’s desire. His life-long friend. Separate women…or one and the same?

Clarkson Dalton abandoned his books and poetry to join the Confederacy, determined to protect his family’s South Carolina plantation and the women who live there. Instead of garnering honor and glory, however, he missed most of the fighting as a prisoner of war.

Three years stewing in shame and humiliation would have driven him mad, except for the packet of letters he carries home tucked next to his heart. Missives from his betrothed, Kimberly, whose sweet, passionate words literally kept him alive.

Melissa Fleming has been cleaning up her mistress’s messes for almost as long as she can remember. One task, however, was no hardship during their temporary London exile—writing letters to the man Miss Kimberly discarded like a soiled bit of lace. Missy fell for the sensitive, scholarly Clarkson years ago. Though the signature on the letters was not her own, every word of love was real.

Now that the war is over, it’s time for Kimberly and Missy to return home. And Missy is about to discover there’s a mess awaiting her…and this time, cleaning it up could break her heart.

Love Letters is the third audiobook in Sandra E. Sinclair’s “Unbridled” historical, western romance series—where the female are all strong, capable and sassy, but most of all…unbridled. If you like escaping into bygone days when the west was wild and women wore big dresses, you will love the “Unbridled” series.

Love Letters

Love Letters
: Sandra E Sinclair

Two women one man. This is not your normal love triangle. This is a sweet clean historical fiction. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the listener rooting for their favorite character while wanting to slap their least favorite. Will the past conflict with their futures? A very plesant listen!

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. C.J. McAllister voices this novel with plenty of emotion.

Cute sweet clean historical

What did you love best about Love Letters?

This was a cute book. I wasn't sure that I would like the narrator at first but then the voice grew on me after awhile. The story had a good amount of twists and turns, and it was a pleasant listen.

Sweet Western Romance

Missy and Kimberly grew up together along with the nearby Dalton family. When it was time for Clarkson Dalton to choose a wife, he picked Kimberly even thought we learn quickly that it is Missy who loves him, not Kimberly. Kimberly is not happy as Clarkson's fiancé Missy is not happy to have Clarkson marry Kimberly.
I have found this entire series to be well written with compelling characters and plots. The narration fit the story well with pacing and character voices, making this an all around great listen.

Enjoyable audio

Where does Love Letters rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I would give it 4 stars. There were some glitches, but it many just be my internet.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Clarkson Dalton was my favorite character because he was sensitive and kind, besides being smart.

What about C.J. McAllister’s performance did you like?

I liked his voice best for Clarkson Dalton. His voice kept bringing to my mind Marshal Matt Dillon played by James Arness. I liked the deep quality of his voice.

Any additional comments?

I was only disappointed that it was not a completely clean book. I was not prepared for any swear words.

Sweet romance with more

What seems like a fairly typical love triangle turns out to be anything but. They dynamics between the three characters are far from normal and they're very amusing.

In some ways the story explores what motivates us. The character each make some dubious decisions that had me wondering why they would do that. It made the story more interesting than a 'normal' historical romance.

The setting is beautifully described and the characters have been carefully crafted to create and engaging and enjoyable book. I'll be looking for more books in the series.

The narration is excellent, the character voices are clear and distinct and good matches for the characters personalities. The delivery is very natural sounding and conveys the emotions of the story really well.

A Clean and Sweet Historical Novel

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

I was very taken with this audiobook. It is nice to see that it is still possible to have authors write sweet, pleasant stories without always having to recur to sensationalism and strong graphic images. The storyline is a little predictable, but the characters are well defined and very likable. This was the first book of the Unbridled Series I have listened to, so some reference to other characters and events were a little fuzzy. I guess if you want to learn more about the other peripheral characters in the story, you'll need to read the other books in the series.
The performance was excellent and the interpretation very pleasant. If you are looking to listen to a clean, sweet love story with a happy ending, then this is for you.
