Publisher's summary

Book 2 in the Treading Water Trilogy, Marking Time continues the story begun in Treading Water, as Clare Harrington begins a new life.

She's considered a miracle, but everything that's happened since she recovered from a three-year coma has been less than miraculous. Now left to grapple with the aftermath of a selfless decision, she is home from the hospital and trying to figure out what the next chapter in her miraculous recovery has in store for her.

Meanwhile, her 18-year-old daughter, Kate, a talented singer and songwriter, sets out to pursue her musical dreams in Nashville. Her parents have agreed to allow Kate to spend a year there, but they couldn't have anticipated Kate falling in love with a much older man. Her newly divorced parents are forced back together to confront their wayward daughter.

Spanning from Newport, Rhode Island,to Nashville, Tennessee, to Stowe, Vermont, Marking Time is a story of new beginnings and new loves.

Book 2 was even better

Marie Force continues to tell an amazing story in Marking time, book two in her Treading Water Series. This book continues with the characters from book one, but it is focused from Claire and Aiden's perspective.

Claire is doing her best to find her way after recovering from her coma. To get away from it all, she moves to Vermont to help her brother for a few months. The last thing she expects is to meet a broody carpenter who makes her think differently about her life.

Marie has an amazing way with words. She captivates you from the start and does not let go. This series is one I could read over and over again. The angst, trials and tribulations as well as the connection between the characters makes me fall in love each time I've read it. I felt every emotion possible while reading this book. I laughed, I cried, I swooned and I fell in love. This is a series I would recommend to all. The best part is that there is more to come for me to read!

PS - The audio version of this book is phenomenal. Holly Fielding does an amazing job. She makes the story come to life and I could not stop listening to this. She has a tremendous talent and paired with Marie Force's story, it was quite a treat!

Story was interesting

This is the second book in this series and while I thought the book should have been mostly about Claire, a good portion of the book is centered around her daughter Kate. I had a really hard time with Kate's story in this book, older man-young girl....

Narration was great again, and I loved Aidan and Claire's story. The series has been a good series overall, so far.

Forgiveness

Would you listen to Marking Time again? Why?

Yes, the story was awesome. Just to imagine yourself being someone in a coma for three years and to wake up one day to your life as you know it gone and you are left to pick up the pieces in the same house.

It's a lesson in forgiving and moving on.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Clare and Aiden.. You have Clare who was in a coma for three years after begin raped and feeling no hope in life to having a husband in love with another women who was pregnant by him and who took care of your daughters while you were in the coma. She had to figure out where she belonged with their life after coming home to a house her husband had built for her but also shared it with another women.

Then you have Aiden who once had a wife and soon to be a father with a hopeful medical career as a Cardiolgist and to have that taken all away due to cancer is heart breaking..

The two of them together make an awesome couple.

Which character – as performed by Holly Fielding – was your favorite?

Clare.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Maggie had her accident and Clare faced that kind of trauma to no know whether her youngest daughter was going to wake up and to have her middle daughter reunited with her family after her father had disowned her. I cried for sure.

Also when Aiden visited the grave site for the first time where is wife and son were buried.

Any additional comments?

Awesome book and looking forward to the third book.

WONDERFUL STORY!

I am a real fan of this author. The story is captivating! However, the narration leaves so much to be desired AND the background noise is extremely aggravating. With this being said...I'm looking forward to moving on to the 3rd in the series. For some reason, the 4th isn't available and I urge Audible to offer it ASAP!

Story is very good, recording is not

The audio quality is very poor, but the story is worth reading if not listening to.

Great second book in series

Really enjoyed this story, very satisfying continuation of story. Audio quality poor with a lot of background hiss was only thing that kept this from being terrific. The noise in the recording was very distracting

Marking Time

After listening to Treading Water- book 1 in this series- where we were introduced to the Harrington family, and all of the issues the Claire had gone through, I was anxious to listen to Claire's story. And I loved her and Aidan together.

One problem is the quality of the audio is pretty poor. There is quite a bit of background noise throughout the majority that can be distracting and difficult for some. I got used to tuning it out, but for many, this may prove difficult.
