Publisher's summary

Toby Kincaid loves being the junior librarian in his hometown of Sandy Lake, Ohio. He spends his days surrounded by books and chatting with the library patrons. He especially adores the head librarian, Mr. Miggles, who is kind, witty, knowledgeable about everything, and hopelessly addicted to Christmas. Sean Miggles is also pretty cute - especially for an older guy who wears ties and suit pants every day.

But Sean keeps himself at a distance, and there's a sadness about him that Toby can't figure out. When Sean is accused of a crime he didn't commit, he gives up without a fight. Toby realizes that he alone can save the library - and their head librarian.

Toby will need to uncover the darkness in Sean's past and prove to him that he deserves a second chance at life and at love too. And while Christmas miracles are being handed out, maybe Toby will get his own dearest wish - to love and be loved by Mr. Miggles.

Packed with emotion

Any additional comments?

When I first read Merry Christmas, Mr. Miggles the emotion in the story absolutely caught and kept my attention. I meant to only read a couple of chapters of this at lunch...but quickly got sucked into this story and didn't stop until I was finished.

Gah! The feels in this!!! My heart is so full from this! I was enraged on Mr. Miggles' behalf. I wanted to strangle some of the characters of this story so badly, I was totally invested...

And there it is. Eli Easton got me again. Totally immersed and caring for these characters, which, to me, is the sign of a fantastic story.

Tristan Wright does a lovely job bringing Mr. Miggles, Toby Kincaid, and the myriad of supporting cast to life. He infuses emotion to the story in all the right places, and does an overall good job.

This story utterly captivated me, and I'll admit, I had a very different performance in my head of all the parts and characters when I read it. Wright's performance is more understated than how I pictured it would be. It was a more quiet sort of performance that grew on me the longer I listened.

So, yes, this will give you all the feels and get you into the Christmas spirit.

If you're looking for a short, but packed with emotion, holiday story that also has some very nice spicy times toward the end...look no further.

In the end, I was happy I'd listened to it, and would definitely listen to it again.

Not my favorite from this author, but sweet

Eli Easton is the author of one of my all time favorite Christmas stories to date, Blame it on the Mistletoe and it’s audiobook IS my all time favorite so I always look forward to her offerings each year with glee.

Sadly, this year I was a bit disappointed in the outcome.

We have the elements for a great one. We have librarians – who doesn’t love a hot librarian story? We have an age gap – YUM! We have a mystery – gotta have something to keep the story moving, right? And of course, it happens over the Holidays.

However, for most of the book – like 75% Toby, our young MC, is still with his boyfriend, Justin! It’s not til the last quarter of the book that he finally wises up and dumps that jerk!

The tension between the two MCs is barely a spark, and it almost feels like it comes from left field.

While I loved each of the MCs separately for their own unique quirks and foibles, I didn’t really see them as a terrific love match. Maybe one more of opportunity than anything else, and as a result the smexy times felt more awkward to me than hot.

Now, that being said, Eli Easton is fantastic writer, and there are some really nice scenes here where Shawn learns to love himself again and where Toby grows up a bit and claims some of his adulthood. I also LOVED the Library love that this book shows. Any reader can appreciate how valuable and valued libraries are and this book gives them their props in a big way!

All in all, it was an okay book, not bad by any means, but definitely not as good as I’ve come to expect by one of my favorite authors.

Audio

Tristan Wright has narrated a few of Eli’s books and he does a really nice job here. His voice is perfect for Toby and while he gave Mr. Miggles’ character a voice that was a little too dowdy to be “hot” I’m not sure it didn’t fit him.

In any case, he definitely added to my overall enjoyment of this story.

Mr Miggles the cat

I love this narrator. However It took a while to get used to his voice for Mr Miggles. I loved the story but having the main character named like a cat was a little jarring. Overall a good story.

A Christmas Miracle for Toby and Mr Miggles

This sweet, funny, intense holiday story is too good to keep for Christmas. Once again Eli Easton creates a warm, beautiful universe where good overcomes evil and the ending is always joyful. Merry Christmas Mr Miggles is a story that makes you really care about the characters and genuinely interested in the way that Toby and Mr. Miggles navigate all the obstacles placed in the way of the usual festive holiday plans. A special shout out to Tristan Wright who really brings the characters to life. It feels like I'm watching the action from the characters point of view.

Sweetness

This was a sweet story high on the small town goodness and not a lot of sexy times. Very enjoyable.

Warm and lovely

A sweet holiday romance with very little angst and moderate heat. Listen to this tale anytime for a Christmas feeling throughout the year.

This made me laugh and cry, groan and moan

I love libraries, and I fell in love with these two quirky, cute and sexy librarians. The story is really exciting and left me wanting to be a better person. As always, I wish the narrator didn't have to sound like a squeaky old grandma every time he read the part of a woman, but I guess that comes with audio books...
