Publisher's summary

A city of rogues. A seedy bar. A thief who stole the wrong prize.

When Isabel sought refuge in the Dragon and Rose with a jeweled watch in hand, Digger’s biggest mistake was hiding her.

After all, the treasure in her possession looked like an easy score.

But the gang of mercenaries on her heels want it for themselves. Soon assassins and lawmen join the pursuit and begin scouring the city in their efforts to capture the thief.

Isabel and Digger must race to discover who the watch really belongs to - and why they’re willing to kill anyone in their way to get it back.

Midnight Monster Club

Digger is on his way to confront his brother about a card game he is advertising at the inn where he works. Digger is not happy with his brother pulling a crazy stunt like this when he should be doing what he was told to do --lay low. They are not pure blood and as such are on everyone's list of lowlifes. He get to the inn where he tells everyone there to get out then berates his brother about his stunt when in barrels a young woman named Isabelle. She hides and just shortly thereafter a man comes in and asks where the woman is. After trying to get rid of him Digger has no option than to get rid of him permanently. Now because of his brother's stunt and this woman's stupidity (love does that according to Digger) he and his brother and their friends are in for a rough time and possibility of their lives being cut short!
Gareth Richards voice entices you into this almost swash buckling story and will keep you riveted till the last page.

Non-Stop Action

Digger is a sourpuss but courageous, cunning and resourceful. What starts out as a bad idea by his brother turns out to lead to murder and mayhem, and an amazing adventure for Digger and his friends. Excellent narration, twisty storyline, and engaging well-written characters...

A dark fantasy

Racial disparity, corruption, with a hint of Hunger Games, and hints of rebellion.

This story is quite dark, and life seems to be taken lightly and cheaply for the upper class. Enter in a lowly grave digger with certain skills and a bit of a grudge, and things get interesting.

I like the characters and story, and the narrator's accent seems to go well with everything. Very enjoyable.

I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for an honest review.

Fun YA Fantasy Dystopian Adventure

This is a darker fantasy adventure revolving around two brothers (half breed fel) who are hiding from the law and part of the outcast/slave race of fel among the noble people. The Queen has an annual set of games, The Catacombs, very reminiscent of The Hunger Games and gladiators. The unfairness the fel live through on a daily basis and how quickly they can find themselves sentenced to the gallows or the Queen's twisted games is disturbing much like other dystopian novels. There is plenty of action, deceit, plotting, and horrors of the treatment those sentence to fight in the Catacombs. The narrator does a great job and is fun to listen to.

Parents - PG13- Although this one is pretty clean in terms of language and romance, it is pretty dark and graphic with the violence, number of killings and details given. It is just written for I would say high school and up readers.
