Publisher's summary

The last thing any man wants to see is the woman of his dreams getting engaged to his brother....

I thought I still had time to win Marlena back, but seeing the brother I despise lock his arm around her waist at his engagement party catches me completely off guard.

I can’t really blame her. She didn’t know he was my brother and I’m sure he never talks about me, but now that she knows, she’s begging me to forget about our past. Well, she’s out of her mind if she thinks I’m going to let her get away from me that easily.

Most men are willing to sacrifice a greater love for the sake of another’s happiness, but the thing is, I’m not like most men. And that fiance of his? She knows me better than anyone else, which means she also knows I’m not letting her go without a fight.

Intense 2nd Chance love story!!

The dark and twisted things these first time lovers went through in the beginning to meeting up again years later. Their love story is about desperation, drugs, alcohol, and death brings these two back into their lives! Loved the narration and the characters!

Secrets and the Hidden Truth, Love Conquers All

At first this was a little slow and it makes you wonder with all the past and present... abt a quarter way into the book, the ahh moment happens and you are left wanting more! I secretly wish they would of stuck it to the step dad and brother a little harder then they did!
Narration was great! They both read their parts flawlessly!

Chasing happiness

The story begins with Marlena leaving her addict boyfriend Vinnie. She’s realized that he’s never going to get the help he needs so she’s accepted a job as a flight attendant. Fast forward two years, Vinnie is now clean and opening a club with one of his friends. He receives a call from his younger brother Lloyd asking him to be the best man at his wedding which Vinnie finds hilarious because they aren’t close, in fact they can’t stand each other. Lloyd even offers to pay Vinnie $20,000 to attend and he says he is doing this to make their mom happy. Vinnie agreed because $20,000 is, well, $20,000. Vinnie goes to the dinner to meet Lloyd’s fiancée and he’s shocked to see that it is none other than Marlena, the only woman he’s ever loved. Marlena is just as shocked to see Vinnie but neither mention knowing the other. This revelation makes a tense situation even more tense. In the months following the dinner, Marlena starts to see a side of Lloyd that she’s never seen before and seeing Vinnie makes her have doubts about her future. Does she do what’s right or does she choose her happiness?
I enjoyed this book. It was well written but I gave it 3 stars because the story started slowly but it did build along the way. But overall a good story. Good narration from both narrators.

Steamy read.

I received this audiobook from @AudiobookObsession for an honest review.

I can honestly say from the title I thought this was going to be a typical triangle love situation. It turned out to be so much more! It is about love, addiction, continued addiction and agreements. Holy Moly! I applaud the author for focusing on drug and alcohol addiction and showing how relationships can be tarnished by addiction. I also liked full circle on how all the characters weaved together and they each have their own story. This book could be set up as a series for each character. The author allows you to fall in love with the main characters. The narration was a perfect match and I can still hear their voices as the story unfolds.

Great Story and Amazing Narration!

I love this second chance to love story. Marley and Vyn's story is heartbreaking, and heartwarming afterward. Marley is a strong woman. I love the perseverance of Vyn. Both are great together and they share a hot and strong chemistry. This story is beautifully written. Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas did an amazing job with the narration. I love their voice together! I enjoyed listening to this story, and totally recommend it.

second chance romance

so much drama in this one. All the characters in here are a hot mess and hot mess characters sometimes make for a good story. I was pretty much engaged the whole time. I didnt feel much of a connection with any of the characters though because they were a bit all of the place. I'm just not a huge fan of cheating even when characters feel like its justified. If you want to be with someone else, then just be with someone else.I also get annoyed when characters continue to make the same bad decisions and choose a path they no longer have to choose. The story was good and engaging and well written and told, it just wasn't my typed of story. Marlena is marrying lloyd and right before the wedding finds out lloyd is the brother of the first and only man she ever really loved and once reunited, they have a hard time staying away from eachother. Ven wants marlena back and always has even before knowing she was engaged to his brother but marlena keeps choosing to go back to lloyd because she feels she has no other choice and must stick with the original plans to make sure her mom keeps getting the care she needs. Can ven convince marlena to finally leaves his jerk brother and be with him again? I guess you'll just have to read and find out. If you don't like stories involving cheating than this isn't the book for you. I feel like I would have liked it better if there wasn't so much cheating happening.I mean that's your brother man, even if he is a jerk and you feel like the girl was yours first. I really was enjoying it until that started happening. I mean hey some people dont mind it. It is fiction but still makes me cringe lol. Also I felt bad for ven because he loved her so much and she couldn't make up her mind what she wanted.

Addictive love

So much agony and destruction make up the past world for Vin and Marley. Faced with the worst challenge of which brother to pick, Marley has the ultimate decision to make. The struggles they both face make you feel all the emotions. Their pain is palpable and their love and attraction undeniable. Very well written and executed perfectly by the narrators, who I’ve never listened to before, but instantly fell in love with. Vin and Marley are now one of my favorite couples.

Because nothing is ever so simple

This has been such a battle thru the whole book, this heroine truly had an impossible situation, my view of Marley had me praising her strength to ultimately choose love.

as a reader we often have a list of what we want from a story and while this one wasn't quite an ugly cry, it held a cycle of emotions that only in it's last hour did I find myself hunting my Kleenex. for the most of it we witness a hunting past then flash back to a uncertain present.

Fantastic listen!

This is my first book by Shanora Williams, and she now has a new fan! What a beautiful story! When I read the title, I figured this was going to be a naughty, the heroine is attracted to her future brother-in-law type of naughty, but to my surprise, it is a heart wrenching story of longing, loving and redemption. Marley and Vin dated for 3 years. When it was evident Vin's addictions would rule his life, Marley left him and set out to move on with her life. But can that ever really happen? These two soulmates meet again and in the worst of circumstances. I loved Vin! His brokenness made so endearing, and his perseverance was unwavering. Marley is strong and wants to do what is best for her family. I have to say, there were times I wanted to smack her silly and tell her what to do, but I do love the way things shift and move in the story. It makes for an angsty, highly emotional book, making my heart ache and fill with love.

Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas give an amazing performance. Marley is full of emotion and the push/pull feelings are felt straight through with Laurel's performance. You can just feel her passion towards Vin while being pulled to keep her commitment. Salinas has a smooth voice and I loved his portrayal of Vin. Vin is full of passion and perseverance, felt with his inflections. Together, they gave us a story of love not to be missed.

Great Read

My Fiance’s Brother: A Forbidden Second Chance Romance was a great read by Shanora Williams. Vinny and Marlena were once in love and in a relationship. Now Marlena is unknowingly engaged to his brother that Vinny hates. I absolutely loved reading Vinny and Marlena’s story and the whole time wanted them to get back together. Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas did a great job of narrating the characters and bringing life to them. I can’t wait to read more by Shanora Williams. #AudiobookObsessionReviewer
