About this listen
After taking in her estranged niece, a woman fears for her family's lives in a domestic thriller by Reese's Book Club pick author of The Last Mrs. Parrish.
Things have been different since Serena came to stay . . .
Ashley Bowers is shocked by the sudden death of her sister, whom she hasn't seen or heard from in years. Grieving for the bond they once shared and wallowing in the knowledge that any chance of reconciliation is gone forever is one thing. Welcoming her sister's thirteen-year-old daughter—a girl Ashley has never even met—into the home she shares with her husband and two children is another.
Ashley hopes Serena will blend in seamlessly with her family and their peaceful life in Maryland once they've both had a chance to process their loss. But as days become weeks, personalities clash and troubling incidents turn the Bowers residence into a whirlwind of accusation, denial, and fear.
It starts small: missing items, the dog inexplicably locked outside all night. But when the safety of her own children is threatened, Ashley starts to wonder if the tragedies in Serena's past are unfortunate coincidences or something more sinister. Is Ashley's orphaned niece simply acting out after the tragic passing of both her parents? Or is something far more dangerous going on under her own roof?
Dark secrets and unexpected twists will keep you guessing until the very end in My Sister's Daughter, a captivating thriller that undoes puzzles of the past from New York Times–bestselling author Liv Constantine.

Story
I stare at the photo of my beautiful daughter. Her hair is shining and her face is lit up with a smile. The man with her looks so happy too. But my mother’s instinct is screaming. I know something is terribly, terribly wrong. And I know what I have to do… I wish I could hold her tight. See if she still wears the same perfume she always wore. But my daughter blames me for her father’s death. She won’t even talk to me… I just know she isn’t really safe with her boyfriend, Garth. I will keep my distance and I will just watch her. For now.

When you return from a work trip to find your husband dead in the pond, it’s best not to call him a liar and a cheat in front of the cops. Especially when you’ve spent the last few years telling anyone who’ll listen that you sometimes fantasize about killing him. It makes you look kind of, well, guilty.

My husband is dead. I attended his funeral. I watched his casket be lowered six feet into the ground. (Actually, it may have been only five feet, but that still seems like more than enough.) And then we ate an array of finger sandwiches and deviled eggs and miniature beef wellingtons that cost more than my first car. My point is, Grant is gone. And so are all his many, many deep, dark secrets which I never really ever bothered to ask him about. He is never coming back.

Story
Blair Martin’s days rarely vary: she gets up, goes for a run, and then heads to work at a Manhattan literary agency where she nurtures authors through the publishing process. Her nights, spent alone in her too-large apartment, are similarly predictable. Then on an ordinary Wednesday, Blair enters her office building and spies a lost wallet. When Blair tracks down the owner, they arrange for a simple exchange. But the young woman, Maya, seems so vulnerable, much like Blair’s own daughter, Faith, who died tragically just last year, and Blair is unable to simply walk away.

Sophie is perfect. She has blonde hair and blue eyes and when she smiles her wide, open, caring smile, her teeth sparkle. Everybody loves her. So would I, except she’s my husband Mike’s best friend, and sometimes they seem a little too close for comfort. This summer, Sophie is renting the grand house next door, bringing over fancy wine, offering to babysit our beautiful three-year-old daughter. It’s nice, actually. She’s smart and funny. So good… Too short
This was a great book. I wish it had been about three times as long, although maybe I liked it because it got to the point and accomplished what she wanted to accomplish. Lots of twists and turns.

Kept me guessing to the end
Liv Constantine have authored quite a few books which Keep the reader engage. My Sister’s Daughter can be added to the list.
The story kept me engaged while trying to think one step ahead of what was going to happen. I did not see the ending coming. Of all the possible scenarios I was shocked. It would be easy to mention the high points and hint at the twists in this book, but I don’t wanna spoil it for the readers. Suffice to say this is a quick read and once I started listening, I couldn’t wait to find out how it ends.
After learning of her estranged sister‘s death, Ashley Bauer takes in her 13-year-old niece and endeavors to make her part of her family. Her daughter Luna is just a couple months younger than her niece Serena and the initial introduction of the girls was rocky. A few instances caused friction and it seemed as though Serena was the instigator. After a time, though the two girls become close as sisters, things within the family grow strained and all is not as it seems. Unable to sort out the strange occurrences, Ashley wonder if the decision to welcome Serena into their home a mistake?
