About this listen

In the near future, political tensions between the United States and China are at an all-time high. Then a catastrophic explosion on the moon cleaves a vast gash in the lunar surface, and the massive electromagnetic pulse it unleashes obliterates Earth's electrical infrastructure. To plumb the depths of the newly created lunar fissure and excavate the source of the power surge, the feuding nations are forced to cooperate on a high-risk mission to return mankind to the moon.

Now, a diverse, highly skilled ensemble of astronauts - and a pair of maverick archaeologists plucked from the Peruvian jungle - will brave conspiracy on Earth and disaster in space to make a shocking discovery.

Ocean of Storms is an epic adventure that spans space and time as its heroes race to fulfill an ancient mission that may change the course of humanity's future.

Didn't expect that.

Very timely, could take place in the future or today. Lots of twists and surprises.

Fun Sci Fi

Just a nice fun read. A little far fetched at the end but that's what makes these types of books fun!

Eh...it's fine if you want something safe to read.

Story is generic and very predictable. Most characters are straight up stereotypes with weird or unrealistic motivations (you really hate NASA that much because they didn't let your daddy up in space....really?). Lots of exposition and background description really slow down the pace of the book. Reader performance is ok.

Sphere, Apollo 13, Uncharted, and Austin Powers...

...all in one. Luke Daniel's hilarious narration of this far-fetched sci-fi space thriller plot makes this a comical listen. The character lines are written so awful, it's laughable the way Daniel's has to "Mickey Mouse" up the character voices to keep the listener interested....or that's just his style, I guess. Him doung the English character like Austin Powers was awesome.

The plot isn't too bad. And gladly, there's no "sex scene." Good sci-fi stories don't need that crap. But, a good bit of it is rather non-sensical. Like, why beam a signal so strong it knocks out the worlds infranstructure? Doesn't really matter, though. The English guy is hilarious..."...Jesus Christ! The other cave is full of bats!"

Like space and Nasa, OK.

Topics I love, however the story at times was predictable and convenient. Great diversity in the narration, at times too much, talented though.

Fascinating premise,well performed, overwritten

Luke is great! The story Arc was disjointed or maybe elongated and truncated is a better way to say it. It seemed to be 2 books in 1. Better editing, shorter time and more 'meat' would have made this 5 across the board.I had to really squint my brain on the evolution premise since evolution from Apes is a lie and takes more faith and more theories than any Christian would ever have to have in Creation(no, it was not completely shut out, but still that made it worse for me) but it is Fiction, so Fiction is as Fiction does. Too many characters introduced in second half. Recommended but recap:less filler and better story arc, maybe less characters and time.

Most Enjoyable Fiction in a Long Time!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend it if you like a mostly face-paced, action packed, exciting read. I never wanted to stop listening - I actually turned off the TV to listen to this book! It was THAT fun!

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the narration - you could tell the characters apart by the change in tone of the narrator's character voices. He didn't use too much drama - the voices were just different enough to keep you interested and didn't detract from the story. The narration was, if not THE best, it was second only to the gripping story.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I couldn't stop listening!
