Publisher's summary

Jasper Andrews finds herself drawn into this superhuman world when a freak explosion exposes her to groups interested in secret abilities. When her family is killed under unbelievable circumstances, Jasper is the only suspect. She flees police custody and heads to New York City to lose herself in the crowds. Jasper wants revenge, but being chased by the police and superhuman bad guys, slows her down. While she's in hiding Jasper becomes more volatile; she begins manifesting traces of her siblings' abilities and begins to lose control. The Order of Vespers has decided she's too dangerous and too important to leave unguarded and capture her. Before she can escape, the killers strike again, this time taking children directly connected to the Order. Jasper is forced to choose between her vendetta and the lives of the Vespers and humanity.

Not bad

I liked the storyline. The characters were good . What actually made this hard for me was the narrator. I felt like she was not able to be each character sometimes I was lost as to who was actually talking . I think had this been narrated by another I would have loved it.

Keeps your interest

Jasper is an interesting heroine. She has supernatural abilities and a "split personality". Jasper is taken in by the Order of Vespers which is a society of people with supernatural abilities. They are unsure if she can be trusted or will be their savior. The Order is at "war" with a group of people who want to kill them off. Will be listening to the next story to find out what ultimately happens to Jasper and her friends.

Love the internal dialogues

This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I would listen to another. I’d like to know what happens next.
This book is loaded with action and a bit of romance. Jess being taught by, then ignored by one of her instructors felt awkward to me. I’m not sure if I missed the justification for it. Jess has a voice in her head that adds an extra element to the superpower story. The Order of Vespers “saves” her, yet is not what they seem. The book has a conclusion

This is the first book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Monica Jays ) and I would listen to another. Not all the character voices were well defined, yet she gives others their own voice and brings out their personalities. For the most part, she dramatizes the story well.

There are no explicit sex scenes, or excessive violence. There is swearing.

Order of Vespers

This was an interesting story. the author had me glued to the audiobook, I wanted to know what would happen next and the world-building was well thought.
My only negative is that I found the main character annoying at times and I got her confused with the one she would not name.

Whoa whoa whoa

This book FLEW by!! When the epilogue came on I was like hold on I just started listening to this story!! This was a wild and fast paced ride! I'm so curious about Jordy and Jasper's connection. I really hope that comes to light in the next book which I am starting now! Jasper looses her whole family and the only life shes ever known after being accused of being a terrorist! She runs away and find herself engulfed in this wild world and in fear of the boogieman shes been raised to fear! This story starts with action and never stops. Its fantastic. I wish we could see the chemistry between Jordy and Jasper a little more. We all know something is there even from the beginning but its a mystery the whole book. Jasper makes fast friends but apparently fast enemies too. Pay attention or you will miss something fun! Matilda Reyes did a fabulous job creating this fast paced story and Monica Jaye, just wow. She snapped her fingers instead of just saying "she snapped her fingers" I SWEAR she had someone put her in choke holds to recite some of her lines they were so believable! Seriously and amazing narrator right her! Jasper annoyed me at first I wont like. She was just such a crybaby it about drove me nuts but it does get better. Get past that and you socks will quite literally be blown away by Jaspers story!!

Amazing!

I received this book for free at my request but the opinion is of my own. Wow! Jasper is a teenage girl who is part of a family that all have powers but must keep them secret. The only problem is that jasper is having problems keeping hers under control. One day she is told she has to leave to protect herself and her family on not being found out. Than the worst happens and Jasper is on her own until the very people who were suppose to help her capture her. Now She wants to learn and wants revenge. Will she find a way to get even?

Pretty Good

I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
I have mixed feelings about this book.
The good - the author did an wonderful job developing characters that were interesting and dynamic. The premise of the plot was intriguing and well thought out, and there is a great deal of action throughout the book. There were any lulls in the story, and I enjoyed the humor from the witty protagonist.
The bad - the protagonist was overly whiny throughout, which was hard to handle. Also, there were times when the plot became a little convoluted due to too many things happening all at once.
Overall, I thought that book was pretty good. If you like an action packed book, this is a good choice.
