Publisher's summary

Read by the author.

Three-time Olympian Lolo Jones delivers a tough yet inspiring look into the strategies she has used to overcome immense obstacles on her way to becoming the number one women's hurdler in the world.

Lolo Jones' path to becoming a world champion and an Olympian began in childhood with a single mother who worked multiple jobs to support a family of six and a father who was serving time in prison. These early years instilled in Lolo an overcomer's mindset that gave her the strength she needed to rise above an unstable and impoverished background, to earn an economics degree at LSU, and then to establish herself as the best women's hurdler in the world.

In Over It, Lolo delivers a high-octane dose of no-BS encouragement, storytelling, humor, and practicality and exposes the obstacles that too often hold us back. With the same pluck and boldness that defines her life and career, Lolo teaches people how to face their challenges head-on and keep working to overcome them with strength.

Even when the obstacles are large and we feel frustrated, overwhelmed, and ready to quit, we’ve got to keep fighting - full force, full speed. We've got to get over it.

This book is about hard work and forgiveness and also being a Christian.

This book is about hard work and forgiveness and also being a Christian.

I love this book and love the story and most importantly, I love LoLo’s perspective on life. It isn’t a poor me pity story but it is taking the pain and making it Gold.

“Fight the injustices of your past, scorn the shame, take what you’ve been given, put in the work and get over it”

I’m buying the hard copy for my teenage athletes also.

Emotional inspiration

This book is the best emotional support and inspiration for the current athlete, coach, or anyone struggling with current or past losses. I laughed, I cried, I am encouraged. I will read this book again and again. Thank you Lolo. I hope you get that gold medal. And if not, know you’ve already made the biggest difference.

I loved hearing Lolo’s story from her. She has been through so much it is inspiring to say the least. She is fast and strong in every sense of the word. Here’s to seeing her again in Beijing in 2022!

Love her

I don’t keep with sports so I honestly didn’t know who this chick was or what she looked like. I have a lot if respect for athletes and I’m a chick so I thought why not. Whether you like sports or not this book was amazing! Her struggles apply to all different areas of life and I love her honesty and openness! Her extra sidebars are hilarious!

All Of This!!!

First, I love the fact that it was Lolo that narrated this. It made it so much more enjoyable.
I've been a fan of LoLo for awhile now. Maybe because she's mixed like me and did the Hurdles like I did. I winded up getting hurt and blowing me knee out and it ended my Hurdle career. So watching the Hurdles in the Olympics is vert hard for me.

It's so great how open LoLo was in the book. You really get an inside look at her life starting at a small age. I mean WoW. I appreciate her even more. I'm so glad I did the Audible and I get more of her narration and behind the scene talks. This so worth getting.

But you're here...

Wow is what comes to mind when I finished listening to this amazing story. Lolo is an absolute winner. This book opens eyes to the Olympics, her personal life and yet make the struggles of it all so in touch with the reader. If you're not a sports fan, if you're not a religious person, even if you have no idea about who the author is, that's OK. You do know struggle and you do know life. I honestly can't say enough good things about this book. When she choked up when retelling one of her races, I felt that raw emotion and it hit me in the feels. We all have our losses but she encourages to find the wins. Thank you Lolo Jones, you are a champion to me.

Small insight on life

Lolo read the book, and added a few ‘bonus material’ additions that go into more depth. Lolo is an amazing athlete, and is not afraid of giving us all the details, even on her worst race. She goes into how she was able to stay tough and keep pushing for the best.
