very very good

kept me in suspense most the duration of the read. I would think it was going to end one way then shifted to a different scene.

Her bravery

It was alittle long but that was it. I really enjoyed the book and look forward to other books by her.

Gut wrenching

Loved it. Having said that, my stomach was in knots waiting for the protagonist to ‘ catch a break’ which took a LONG while.

Too depressing and way too long of a story.

Hated it. It was a very depressing and dismal story. Too long and drawn out. Not for me:

“Who knew love could be so dangerous?”

Before starting this review, I want to emphasize the warning: “Over My Shoulder” by Patricia Dixon contains graphic violence and abuse. While the content can be difficult to listen to at times, the warning is necessary, and I appreciate the author’s commitment to tackling tough subjects. After trying several previous books and giving up, I finally settled on this one from the Audible Plus catalogue at no charge. With the exceptional narration by Helen McFarlane, I was immediately drawn into the story. As a first-time listener to Dixon's work, I will be searching for more. This devious tale is expertly told from the perspective of Freya, the main character, as she relays her story directly to us. I found myself fully invested in her journey. I was literally talking out loud as I recognized the red flags in her relationship with the manipulative Kane. Dixon expertly weaves a dark and addictive narrative that explores the toxic dynamics of Freya's relationship. For those who are fans of psychological thrillers and can handle the graphic content, “Over My Shoulder” is a must-listen. Just be sure to prioritize your own emotional well-being and take breaks when needed.

Dramatized but a solid listen

This was overly dramatic in a back and forth way. Like she knew better but still did it anyway. I do know that in real life this does happen but wasn't explained great in the book. It was still a solid listen.

Wow!!!!@

Having lived through an abusive relationship then stalking, I could identify. The way this was written like a memoir made the story more real for me.
Yes, it's fiction but so many stories like it. And I'm fully expecting some cruel reviewers who live blaming the victim for not leaving.
There's many reasons victims don't leave, in my case he would have killed me. After a year of planning I made it out only to be be stalked and threatened until I was able to have it stopped.
This story is much like this and I only tell my story in this review because I know how victims are blamed abd thought of as weak. Until you've been there..
Anyway, the book was wonderfully written, terrifying and written in a " warning" style.
I found it riveting. I could think of nothing else even for quite some time after I finished it.
Really excellent, 5 stars for being creative but realistic, entertaining but educational, and engrossing in the extreme. Highly recommended!

Enjoyed every minute!

What a good ride. The author knows her stuff, she gives you a glimpse into the mind of a deranged man. Very realistic perception and tale, not for the faint of heart. The narration was excellent as well.
