About this listen

On the rolling Missouri River, a riverboat of fur traders, a US senator, and Prussian royalty are all heading to the Yellowstone from St. Louis. Preacher's onboard because the nation's fate depends on the passengers landing safe and sound. But it won't be easy.

Two beautiful women make a play for Preacher. So does a killer. So does a band of river pirates. No sooner does Preacher beat back these threats than the riverboat lands in the middle of a blood-soaked Indian ambush - with a Prussian nobleman and his family taken hostage. Preacher has no choice but to go off in pursuit, even with a traitor trying to slaughter him.

Someone wants to start a war and change the course of American history. Only a lone mountain man and the ambush of bullets he wields with deadly, unerring force stand in the way.

Good but not his best

George could read the phone book changing his voice for just about everyone in it. The book seems to drag on a bit and there is parts that aren't part of the story, fillers if you will.

Good, but not the best.

Preachers slaughter

Good read but story a little far fetched and unbelievable. Had I known the story I would not read the book.

Good entry in the series

Easy to listen to as are most books in this series. I am familiar with Mr Guidall from the Longmire books and always enjoy his reading.

The default speed in the Audible app forGeorge Guidall’s narration 1.0 is always pretty fast. Idk why, he is the only one I have found where this is the case, at least so far—adjusting the speed of the playback to 0.8 makes it easier to listen to and appreciate.

love boat it may or may not be...

the missouri river is the location of untold misery and deep discovery....and Preacher is there to guide those souls. courage and honor is not exclusively linked to 'the civilized'.

Mountain man fun

Narration is very good. Lots of Tommy hawks in this one. Dog gets used a lot.

Didn’t like the narrator

Not sure what’s happening with this series after this one. The narrator was off and made preacher sound like an old man. Also the river boat pirates again…this was not my favorite and I’ve enjoyed 7 of these books in the series already. Feels like a completely different experience. The first 9 books besides the mountain Cesar were all great!!

Awful narrator

I love the Preacher stories and was really looking forward to this next book in the series.
I am returning the book to the library of Audible and will just purchase a hard copy of the book to read.
The narrator speaks too quickly. It’s like he is simply reading the words and not telling a story.
I miss J Rodney Turner.
