Publisher's summary

The short story Mediator fans everywhere have been waiting years to read… a fun, fast-paced, never-before-read scene in which Suze Simon agrees to marry her no-longer-dead ghost boyfriend, Jesse de Silva!

The last place Suze Simon expects to find herself during Valentine's Day is a cemetery. But that's what happens when you're a mediator—cursed with the "gift" of communicating with the dead.

That's how Suze has ended up at the graves of a pair of tragic young lovers. They're NCDPs—Non-Compliant Deceased Persons—whose drama didn't end with death. It's Suze's job to make sure they move on—for good.

But the NCDPs aren't the only ones with problems. The reason Suze is spending her Valentine's Day with the undead instead of her boyfriend, Jesse, is because he's having so much trouble adjusting to life after death . . . not surprising, considering the fact that he used to be an NCDP himself, and now his girlfriend busts his former kind for a living.

Can Suze use her mediating skills to propose a mutual resolution, and bring all these young lovers together, especially on the night Saint Valentine declared sacred to romance? Or will she end up alone—and possibly undead—herself?

I love Meg Cabot

The narration started out a little robotic, but it definitely improved along the way. I wouldn't mind reading another book that was read by the same person.

As far as the story, it's what you should expect from a Meg Cabot book: girly, funny, romance... if you like the mediator series, you'll like this book too.

Good but frustrating in parts

Suz is suppose to be older and wiser because she’s been a mediator for a while but in the beginning chapters she’s still treating the ghost like she does as a kid. She dismisses him and doesn’t actually listen to his story and is just trying to get him to move on. I don’t think that she would do this when she’s older. I feel like by now she should be more open to hearing peoples stories. Overall good though. Love her and Jessie’s relationship.

Narrator changed her style

I really enjoyed this new story by Meg Cabot. I was happy to see it was also read by the same narrator as the older Mediator books I loved listening to in high school. I was not pleased, however, to hear she had totally changed her style of reading. In the older books Johanna Parker sounds like a wonderful narrator, giving life to each character. In this book she sound like any other person reading a book. She gives different voices to each character but is not the same.

Worst narrator I’ve ever listened to

I love this book. I love this author. I love this series. But this narrator is the worst. I could barely finish this book, and it was only 2 hours long. I will not be able to listen to any of The Mediator Books and that makes me very sad because it’s my favorite series. Meg Cabot is one of my favorite authors, and The Mediator is my favorite book series. So this review has nothing to do with the book. This review is about the narrator. The narrator confuses her voices for the characters, doesn’t have a distinct voice for the main character vs her narration voice (so it can be confusing to tell who is talking), ends every sentence as if it’s a question, stresses the wrong words in sentences, and, pauses, way, too, often, in, the, sentence. Basically she is unbearable. I will be returning this and never again buying anything narrated by this person.

Just grab a book…

What happened to the narrator? suze should be sounding older yes since she’s out of high school now… but the audiobook make her sound like a 50+ year old woman. And at times like a grandma… really.. it was good before.. why change too much 🥲 can’t make it thru the end i’m sorry… the story is good though.. i read this before.. i have it on my kindle…
