About this listen

A powerful call to step into your full potential that biblically affirms the need for women to rise up and work together to make a better world.

"Jo is one of my most trusted voices in Christian leadership.... She leads auditoriums full of people, and she leads me one-on-one." (Jen Hatmaker)

Have you ever questioned the roles you find yourself in, wondering if you were made for more but unsure of the rocky path before you? Have you had a clear vision for your life, but along the way, insecurity and fear weighted your dreams and silenced the voice within you? You’re not alone. Many amazing women like you have experienced the same struggles. Whether you’re moving into leadership, discovering your calling, fighting for change, or doing all three, leadership coach and speaker Jo Saxton affirms that God designed women for influence and impact. But are you living up to your full potential?

Ready to Rise tackles the real-life issues - from harassment and sexism to self-doubt and loneliness - that can discourage and derail women from leading in the areas God has called them to. With insights from her own journey and powerful biblical examples, Jo offers practical advice to empower and equip women to transform their communities.

If you’ve ever longed to uncover your true potential, own your voice, and boldly advance God’s goodness in the world, now is the time to start. Get ready to rise!

Critic reviews

"Saxton’s voice on leadership is bold, urgent, and full of grace. She calls us to challenge our preconceived notions about leadership and influence, to question the lies we’ve believed, and to rediscover the calling of God. This book is an invitation to rise into the fullness of whom God made each of us to be and to remember that we do our best rising together.” (Amena Brown, poet, author, and host of HER with Amena Brown podcast)

“Our ability as women to own, shape, and steward our experiences and stories will directly influence how whole and healed our communities can be. In a world brimming with hopelessness, brokenness, and sin, this is the exact book we need to fully step into our leadership to restore not only our broken communities but our broken selves in the process.” (Jenny Yang, vice president of advocacy and policy at World Relief)

Ready to Rise is written with the beauty and creativity of prose, crafted with the understanding of a best friend who ‘gets it,’ and is yet saturated with the teachings and revelations of an international pastor who cracks the code on having and living by faith. Packed with entertaining personal accounts and ‘aha’ moments (some ‘ouch’ moments too), and anchored by teachings and tools for the ages, Jo Saxton readies you. The rise is sure to follow.” (Zakiya Larry, brand-elevation strategist)

Honest conversation

I really appreciated Jo's honesty and forthrightness in discussing women in leadership, women in leadership in the church, and the toll it takes on is when we believe we have to do it ourselves. This book brings to light real issues and is incredibly encouraging and practical. Get ready to rise!

Amazing

I tried to make this book last as long as possible and I’m so glad I have the option to listen again and again. There is such great wisdom within its digital pages even my 10 year old son grasped one of my favorite concepts discussed!!
This one will NOT disappoint, rise up y’all!

Totally Me!

Thank you for taking a peek into my life as an African-American leader and pulling me out of my comfort zone to remind me of my Creator, purpose, and mission. I also appreciate the fact that I can still love God, serve my church, and be a business leader at the same time.

For such a time as this

Dear Jo,

Have you ever heard a message, and known deep in your heart that not only was it for YOU, but came at just the right time? This is how I feel about Ready to Rise. A number of years ago I had a conversation with a church friend about how in our experience we seemed to be lacking connection with those ahead of us for a variety of reasons. We spoke of our awareness of our gaps and the lack of resources available to us to fill them in. That day, we decided that if we couldn't find the people to mentor and help teach us, that we would pursue becoming those women in order to pass along the torch to those coming after us. It has taken many years to find practical, insightful, appropriate, pertinent resources to assist with this pursuit. Where Dream of You affirmed me as a person with a God-designed personality, gifting and worth, Ready to Rise taught me what to DO with it. In the last few months God has been speaking to me sometimes quietly and sometimes with urgency "just show up". I am in the throes of ceasing to spin my wheels and take hold of this thing. The first step was healing, forgiveness and surrendering my story. I am now in the stages of finding and using my voice and researching practical steps. Thank you for this priceless resource and for speaking truth in love. I much appreciated your loving directness and constant pointing back toward Jesus. My life will look different now because you shared your gift. May God bless you for your faithfulness. 💜

Mentoring future women leaders

I love Jo Saxton. Her ministry equips & empowers female leaders. And, I ❤️ her voice. It’s like having a dear friend talk & speak life into you. ❤️ This is her 2nd 📚 I listen to on Audible. I loved listening to her Ready to Rise book while taking my daily walks. It’s like taking a walk with a mentor, life coach and sister in Christ who is pushing you towards excellence. It’s like having a pastor, Brene Brown and Angela Duckworth wrapped in one.
