Story
Once the golden boy of the English literary scene, now a clinically depressed writer of pulp crime fiction, Ash Winters has given up on hope, happiness, and—most of all—himself. He lives his life between the cycles of his illness, haunted by the ghosts of other people’s expectations. Then a chance encounter throws him into the path of Essex-born Darian Taylor. By his own admission, Darian isn’t the crispest lettuce in the fridge, but he makes Ash laugh, reminding him of what it’s like to step beyond the boundaries of anxiety.

The fae prince caught my eye the moment I saw him, and no, it didn’t have anything to do with the fact that he was being abducted. It’s not even that Callisto adores the large mount who wants to maim him. Or that every time he smiles, flowers bloom around him. No, there’s something else that draws me to him, though when the kingdom begins to fall apart around us, I realize I’m not the only one who wants him.

Of all the people who could have seen me when I was at my most vulnerable, it had to be him. Caleb. My stepbrother and the golden child of our messed up blended family. We barely know each other, but for some reason, he takes care of me when an incident at the club leaves me helpless and alone. He hates me as much as I hate him, but something about his bossy attitude and unflappable calm soothes me. I don't want to want him, but no one has ever made me feel the way he does.

When it comes to hockey, I'm all about the game. I've worked for years to be one of the best in the league, and l've done it without splashing my orientation all over the tabloids. My hockey image is one I've carefully cultivated, and after one night with Ezra Palaszczuk, I risk it all. He's cocky, obnoxious, and has an ego bigger than Massachusetts. And okay, maybe he's the sexiest man I've ever known. We'll never get along. Not when we sleep together. Not even when my possessive streak awakens. That doesn't stop us from falling into bed together over and over again.

In the glitzy underground world of illegal auctions, fast cars, and stolen magical artifacts, John "Dom" Domenici knows he's out of his depth. But he needs the job at Kempthorne & Co. So when his boss, Alexander Kempthorne, wants him on a special case to track down an illegal artifact dealer, Dom can't say no. It shouldn't matter that the billionaire is sexy as sin, and it really shouldn't matter that there's an American agent stalking Dom, an agent who knows more than he should about Dom's case.

For nineteen years, I have carved myself into a dutiful son, a courtier of unimpeachable wit, and a genuine delight at a tea party. Now that my success in society has planted me in the path of Mikhail Vasiliev, it's clear I'd have been better off keeping my head down. Prince Mikhail is the second son of a traitor. Third in line to the throne, he has a reputation for violence, debauchery, and being a thorn in the side of his cousin, King Dmitri. That is until the king decides to get him out of the way—by marrying him off. To me.

All Dag Gates wants is a place to call home. (And to practice magic freely.) All Stefan Bjorne wants is peace in his adoptive country. (And less paperwork.) All Mikkel Vinters wants is both of them. (No, really, he could do wedding bells.) So why, pray tell, is half the magical community set on denying them all their wishes?

Once the golden boy of the English literary scene, now a clinically depressed writer of pulp crime fiction, Ash Winters has given up on hope, happiness, and—most of all—himself.

Sergeant Harry Kabutt has seen better days. He's been shot down, blown up, and tossed to the wayside by the corporations, left to rot in a ratty apartment in gang territory. His own limbs? Shredded, cut away, and left to rot on a mountainside. The replacement mods? Likely to fall apart or leave him to die of sepsis. No longer an operator of the feared APS mecha, Kabutt has hit rock bottom. But he's on foot, he's armed, and he's in serious pain…now it's time to take that pain and spread it around the mega-city of Artem. See who flinches first.

Charming fantasy romance
if you are a fan of writers like T. Kingfisher, add this author to your list!
A good blend of adventure and romance with enough humor to make for an entertaining read.
it felt a bit rushed to me, but I am heavy into character development and slow burn. so more of a preference thing than any flaw with the writing.
The characters were likable and the world interesting if lighter on detail then I would like. Guess I will just have to read the other book in this world and hope it gives a bit more. Great start to a promising series (hopefully more are on the way)

The emotion!
Listening to this couple tell their stories was both a delicious and moving experience. Seth wove their differing backgrounds into a real partnership that worked. This is a story to absorb as well as enjoy. And I did! Thanks for giving us this darkly beautiful tale.

Just Wonderful!
I'm always looking for a good M/M romance, especially if it is fantasy. This ticked all the boxes! It was a good length, good pacing, the romance was good and the chapter of spice was excellent! I can't wait to read the rest of Seth Haddon's works!

I had put off reading this after seeing its release, but was really impressed with it. Great writing, plot, characters, and the very interesting lore and magic system explored in this world.
I definitely recommend this book if you liked the first. It has a surprising level of depth and emotional impact throughout, which makes it all the better to read
Gary Furlong is great as always. Fantastic voices, affect, pace, and naturalness. Brings it all to life

So cringe
I really tried to like it. But when 2 full grown men acts like teenager & flush more than communicate, then I had to drop it.. So much misunderstanding & chapter 14 made me drop it half way home, because I couldn't take it anymore..
I like the 1st book & was rooting for Oren getting some lovein this one, but it was way to cringe for me.
