About this listen

Heir to the clan MacFarlane, Ailis was a prize to be bartered by her calculating father, and her wedding to a man she despised seemed inevitable - until she is abducted by her clan's worst enemy, Alexander MaDubh, a brutally handsome laird with ice in his eyes and hot blood in his veins.

Alexander had come riding into Leargan to claim the three children born of a forbidden love between his brother and lovely Ailis' sister. Now, with Ailis herself as his pawn, he can strike at the enemy whose treachery robbed his clan of so much. Her beauty and her fierce temper stir his blood, and vengeance has never been so sinfully sweet. But will a passion they cannot deny be enough to ease the pain and torment of the past?

Contains mature themes.

A wonderful listen.

Lots is action, dangerous situations and handsome Highlanders. Are Scottish men really like the ones in these books? If so, I’m packing for a raiding party of my own ;)

Narrator was great. She had distinct voices for each character and they all sounded appropriate for gender and age. When looking for a new book I would at least sample it based on the narrator alone.

Such a sweet story

Loved this book more than the first two in the series. It made me think in many replies and choices made by these two prominent characters

Disappointed

I was looking forward to Alexander’s story. He turned in to a r*pist & a$$hle.
I never could get past that. No matter any arc.
Talked sh*t about all of his friends from the first books.
“I would never swear I will not surrender to weakness of the flesh” … but I won’t seek it. Something every woman dreams of. 🙄
I often re-listen to HH series. The characters feel like friends. I will NEVER re-listen to this series. The only reason I made it through this once is the author.

If you like stories about forced pleasure…

This would be the story for you. Unfortunately my stomach curdles when I hear of people’s choices being stolen, even in fiction. I enjoyed the other books in the series because no one was actually forced to do anything. If women were hit, it was bad guys doing it. In this story, when the “hero” is sassed by the heroine, he strikes her. Later he intends to rape her because he lusts after her and because it will upset his enemies.

I’m disappointed because I’d had high hopes for this character. He seemed like he’d be an interesting character and a likable hero. I’m sad this is the turn his story has taken. I won’t be reading any more stories by this author.
