Publisher's summary

Software engineer Darren Holt has survived a tragedy of lies, betrayal, and bloodshed. In an effort to move on with his life, he vowed never to speak of the incident again. But as the memories resurfaced, so did certain details that seemed to warn him before things were about to go terribly wrong.

He's been haunted by new questions. Would these things have changed the outcome had he simply noticed them before? More importantly, why were they just now coming to light? To lay his thoughts to rest, Darren tells his story once more. But this time with all of the "red flags" in their place.

Don't waste your credits

I listen to books as I travel a lot for work. I LOVE a good story, it makes time and the miles fly by. There are times though, that a book is nothing but annoying, and this is one of them. I kept thinking it will get better, it has to. I have gotten to Chapter 65 and I refuse to go further. The story line is ludicrous and the characters aren't even likable. In one chapter, the main character is madly in love and thinking of marrying this woman, the next chapter, he thinks she's a whore and can't stand her, is all made up before the chapter is over, but then his mind and willpower is turned to jello by the look one of her hot friends gives him. He has proof his love is sleeping with anyone/everyone, yet any excuse she gives is readily accepted. If that is what the story line "red flags" is about, he must be a moron. Literally, it feels as if all the characters have bipolar disorder.

I haven't gotten to any mystery - it's just a cheap, cheesy story. In the sample, I thought the narrator sounded similar to Christian Rummel, who I really enjoy, but as time went on, he's is nothing like him. He can't do female voices at all without making them sound aggressive, borderline yelling, or whiny. There are male narrators who do an excellent job with multiple characters, such as Armand Schultz, Scott Brick, and David Baker, to name a few.

I won't read this author again and I won't listen to this narrator again.
