About this listen

“Feist has a natural talent for keeping the reader turning pages.” (Chicago Sun-Times)

The Serpentwar Saga continues!

The second book in master fantasist Raymond E. Feist’s New York Times best-selling classic epic fantasy adventure of war, magic, betrayal, and heroism, Rise of a Merchant Prince chronicles the further exploits of the young protagonists of Shadow of a Dark Queen in the aftermath of the initial confrontation with the fearsome reptilian Sauur and the invading armies of the dreaded Emerald Queen. Return once more to Midkemia - and discover why Science Fiction Chronicle calls Raymond E. Feist, “Without question one of the very best writers of fantasy adventure practicing today.”

One of My Favorite Stories

I love this series, and it was great being able to listen to it while doing other things. The story is very exciting and tragic.

Fantastic

Narrator only got better from first book of this series. Story was great, next 2 books are among the best Feist has written, can't wait to start listening!

Greed and Avarice

Perhaps a little too much emphasis on the mundane guiles of sex and politics. Intriguing but the most tedious read of the series.

The narrator....... sucks

The narrator seem to like to change the names of people. Not quite sure what that was about but it was distracting. I gritted my teeth every time I hear Toe-mas. It's Thomas.

This installment focuses primarily on Rupert, but it’s still good and worth listening to

This volume picks up where the first volume left off with Eric and Rupert, returning to their hometown. The book focuses mostly on Rupert as he builds a business empire, and becomes wealthy, while surviving the plots and intrigues of his enemies. While he’s doing that Eric and the other mercenary’s are on a mission to destroy the lizard people’s homeland on Noventas. This volume ends on a cliffhanger for the upcoming volume three. This is still a good story and well worth listening to, but make sure you listen to the first volume before listening to this one otherwise you will have no idea who these characters are or their background or why they do the things they do in this book. I highly recommend continuing with the trilogy.
