About this listen

It’s paranormal women’s fiction for lovers of magic, mayhem, and a solid afternoon nap (when they can squeeze one in.)

Katherine wasn’t looking for anything extraordinary in her life. She had a job she loved, a husband she adored, and a home in the beautiful seaside town of Moonstone Cove.

Okay yes, she worked too much and had fallen out of touch with all her friends, but that happened to everyone, right? And sure, she was feeling a little creaky in the mornings and couldn’t drink coffee after noon, but that was just life in middle age.

Four minutes was all it took for fate to run away with anything that resembled normal. Now Katherine is trying to place mysterious psychic visions into her previously ordered life. She’s playing referee between a displaced Southern mama and a sarcastic mechanic with a chip on her shoulder. And her quiet life has been upended by a mysterious rash of violent acts by students at her school.

Thankfully, her new friends have powers of their own, and together they just might discover who or what has it in for the quiet citizens of Moonstone Cove.

Runaway Fate is the first book in the hot new Paranormal Women’s Fiction series, Moonstone Cove by USA Today bestselling author, Elizabeth Hunter.

It’s fiction for lovers of magic, mayhem, and a solid afternoon nap (when they can squeeze one in.)

Great cozy mystery!!

This was an awesome story about 3 women who develop psychic powers in their 40s during a traumatic event. Now they are trying to find out who is behind all the deadly events that the college students are doing by using these powers.

I loved all three of the women's characters but i will say that Baxter stole my heart.

I received an audible copy of this and Ava Lucas, the narrator, did a great job changing up the voices for each character and bringing them to life!!

Loved this!

I received an ALC for my honest review!

Another great new series

This is about three women who meet in an unexpected way and find out that they have psychic abilities. They work together to figure out the mystery and their abilities and what it means. They become friends even though they are all quite different. I liked the previous series by Elizabeth Hunter and I'm looking forward to more in this series. Ava Lucas is a great narrator for this book.

I really enjoyed this book.

I listened to this book twice, and I really enjoyed this book, and this author, Elizabeth Hunter. This is a spin off to Suddenly Psychic series, another over 40 book. I loved the first series, so was excited to start the next series.

I was not disappointed! I like that this author does not make husbands always the bad guys. I loved Baxter and Katherine together, and separately. Toni and Megan were very likable also.

It was fun to see Robin, Val and Monica make an appearance too. Some similarities, but in general, in many ways very different.

Ava Lucas is an awesome narrator.

Can’t wait for next book.........

An incredible story and narration!

I listened to the audio version of this book.

Once again, a book outside of my comfort zone that turned out to be utterly fantastic! I was a little thrown by the Paranormal Women's Fiction label, but it is a great read no matter what it's called. Three strangers--three very different women-- share what could have been a horrific event if they hadn't stopped it using powers that they didn't know they possessed. As they come together to try to figure out what their individual powers are and how to control them, they are drawn into a mystery when they discover college students are performing violent acts that are totally out of character for them.

This book focuses mainly of Katharine, a college professor. She discovers that not only does she need the other two women, Megan and Tori, to understand what is happening, but she also needs them as friends. I loved that she discovered how much she needed that and that the totally different three were brought together by friendship. A wonderful book all the way around.

The narration by Ava Lucas was amazing. All the different voices were perfect for the characters and made it so much fun to listen to!

Thanks to Valentine PR for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

Runaway Fat by Elizabeth Hunter

Runaway Fate by Elizabeth Hunter
Book 1 of the Moonstone Cove series, a spin-off fro the Glimmer Lake series. Paranormal women’s fiction. While the characters from Glimmer Lake make an appearance, those books do not need to be read first unless minor spoilers are an issue.

While Katherine is at her gym working out, she experiences a vision of a student pulling out a gun and shooting people. Suddenly he’s there and reaching into his jacket. Katherine and two other women in the gym prevent the shooting and subdue him. But it’s not over. Katherine and her two new friends investigate another “worst nightmare” situation and find more than one connection and more than one student who doesn’t remember how they things went so wrong.

A strong and smart heroine with a successful career and a supporting spouse. She’s not sure why she’s getting visions suddenly but she doesn’t hesitate to act. I loved the building friendships of the three women after meeting at the gym and each manifesting some psychic ability. Just like in the Glimmer Lake series. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Immediately engaging, quick moving and fascinating.

I alternated between a paperback and audiobook. The narrator did a great job with voice variations and emotions.

Great intro to Moonstone Cove

There are plenty of things to like about Runaway Fate - the fast-paced and wonderfully written story, the paranormal, the mystery, the dialogue, the narrator, the characters - but my favorite thing to like is a heroine who is all grown up. Katherine is 45 and trying to figure out what's happening to her as well as how to tell her no-nonsense husband that she's having psychic visions. There's also a mystery to solve, so it's a good thing she's got Toni and Megan to help navigate their new reality. I enjoyed the camaraderie between these woman and how they're there for each other. Then there's Katherine's relationship with Baxter. These two have such a good relationship, and when she finally tells him about her visions is one of my favorite parts of the book. Ava Lucas narrates this first in the Moonstone Cove series, and she's a joy to listen to. She captures the emotion and mystery of the storyline wonderfully, and she keeps every voice distinctive.
Elizabeth Hunter is pretty new to me, but the more I see of her talent, the more I want to see. She's created a terrific group of characters here, and I can't wait to see where this series goes from here.

Solving Mysteries & Paranormal Abilities

Three women of vastly different backgrounds find themselves establishing a close friendship after they each develop paranormal psychic powers following an attempted mass shooting at the gym they frequent. In ways they do not understand, Katharine foresaw the shooting and tackled the gunman, Megan retrieved the gun telekinetically, and Toni kept the shooter calm and still through a voiced command. But the genesis of their new abilities is not the only mystery. Participants in a study at the university where Katharine is a professor, including the gunman, seem to be being manipulated through the study's reporting app.

Well plotted, interesting mysteries, cameo appearances from the Glimmer Lake psychics, and the intriguing personalities of the three main characters, all make for an enjoyable story. While the story has three women as main characters, the focus in Runaway Fate is on Katharine.

A 47 year-old professor of biophysics, Katharine is introverted, doesn't pick up on social cues, hasn't previously experienced the bonds of female friendship, but has a big heart and a genuine care for others. While this story doesn't have a romance as part of the story arc, Baxter, Katharine's husband, is an intelligent and interesting supporting character that Toni refers to as "a male unicorn", which made me laugh.

Ava Lucas is an extremely talented narrator, flawlessly performing unique voices for each of the three main characters, Baxter's accent of a Hong Kong native who was educated in London, and the other secondary characters in such a way that it was easy to tell who was speaking. Her performance enhanced my enjoyment of the story, which is what I look for in an audiobook.

As a fan of Paranormal Women's Fiction, Elizabeth Hunter, and the Moonstone Cove series, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to listen to and review Runaway Fate. Thank you to Valentine PR and Elizabeth Hunter for the complimentary Audible code. This is my honest and voluntary review.
