Publisher's summary

Mr. Benedict Grey is the only heir to a long-standing title, and he knows his duty: find a suitable girl, get married, secure the succession beyond himself. But if a gentleman could be called a wallflower, Benedict would fit the description perfectly. And for the past six years, he’s been out of Society more than he’s been in it. How will he find a woman to wed and bed when he can barely converse with the ladies of the ton?

Lady Honoria Maitland has promised her dying father that, before he breathes his last, she would find a husband to take care of her. But she wants a gentleman that loves her, not her dowry or her name. When she reunites with her old friend Benedict, she proposes a plan that will help them both: a faux courtship and betrothal. She can teach him how to woo a woman and simultaneously ease her father’s last days. But Honoria’s clever plan failed to account for Benedict’s heart...or her own. Is she strong enough to bear the loss of her father and her friend?

Delightful Romance

Benedict Grey is being pressured into securing a suitable wife, producing an heir and all will be well. However, he wishes to remain on the sidelines. Lady Honoria Mailand finds herself in the same situation as her good friend, Benedict so they decide to work together for appearances. However, even the best-laid plans go awry, and they certainly went awry for this pair!

The author, Cora Lee crafts a romantic, magical story of longing and responsibility. Her characters are well-developed and portrayed vividly. The small plot twists are entertaining and while simple, they are intriguing! The story flows smoothly and without flaws.

The narrator, Philip Battley is entertaining and enjoyable to hear. He speaks clearly and the character accents are accurate. His voice is rich and comforting yet reflective of the energy and action in the story. He delivers the performance with a steady cadence.

This is a delightful audiobook that brings out the warm fuzzy feeling of romance and longing.

Forever Friends

Benedict Grey’s brother, who a marquess, is pressuring him to choose a wife. Since his brother has only daughters, Benedict is heir apparent. Though he doesn’t care for social settings, he agrees it is his duty to at least try. He would much rather stay on the sidelines, and read and discuss antiquities and exploring ancient ruins. He runs into Lady Honoria Maitland, a life-long friend, at a ball. Even though they haven’t seen each other for a while, they enjoy meeting again and talking with each other. Both of them are being encouraged to marry, for different reasons. They concoct a fake courtship and betrothal, just for the season. Well, best laid plans, and all that. This is a delightfully entertaining friends-to-lovers romance. Benedict and Honoria have always had an easy, pleasant relationship. Will they be able to turn their friendship into a happy future? The story is quick, sweet, and humorous at points. The ending is great. Philip Battley’s narration is quite enjoyable.
