About this listen

Change is coming to Quest Academy. Can Sal rise to the occasion?

When the second years nearly lose their lives in a failed excursion, it's the first years that pay the price. The curriculum is being radically altered to challenge the students, which means the stakes just got a lot higher.

Salvatore's worst nightmare is taking on a demon, but if he wants to stay at Quest Academy, how will he prove to himself and everyone else that he can succeed? He's going to have to take on an entire floor of a demonic tower before the first semester comes to a close.

That's the least of Sal's problems as he navigates through his first student mission away from the school. Sal is more comfortable at the crafting table, but he needs to survive in a reclaimed zone outside of the academy with the worst team of misfits you could possibly imagine.

It's time to push the limits of Mythcrafting…

Deeply engaging but incredibly frustrating

For people to have such strong and varied opinions on this book the writing is obviously great. I think people have gotten used to the reincarnation fantasy trope where the MC is youthful in appearance but wise, knowledgeable, cunning and incredibly capable (OP). This isn't that.

Sal is an insecure teenager. He is powerful but not very ambitious. He doesn't really even know what he wants in life. He often seems like he's working against his own incredible potential. The way he sees himself is constantly changing and he's a step behind aspiring hero's like Erica because he was so sheltered growing up. His parents are auctioneers for christ sake. He's kind of soft. To him, demons were a horrifying reality that he was never even told about, he only knew that they existed. To compare his capability to the children of hero's who've been essentially trained since birth to be heros is ridiculous. Keep in mind it's only been less than 3 months. He's accomplished a shit-ton.

What's frustrating is Sal can be a push over but it's not because he's a punk he just lacks confidence and overthinks how his actions will be perceived. He's a teenager not a self-assured adult. All things considered this is a great story so far. I'm definitely excited to see Sal overcome his crippling trepidation and be great.

*The books need to span more time than a month per installment though because the wait is too long for such an incremental story*

good book aeries

I found the character development well done. there are flaws w multiple characters which makes them more human with all the flaws that pwople have. the 2nd book makes several new plot branches that can be revisited in later books. I look forward to reading and listening to more of this series.

Excellent series, excellent book!

I have a hard time finding books that are well written and well narrated, but this is one of those. The narration could not be better and the writing is very intelligent, entertaining and action filled without going over the top. I can’t wait until book number three comes out.

Another amazing entry! Top tier quality

This story just keeps getting better. The crafting is detailed and interesting. The MC shows a lot of growth and tests his limits. The story increased the stakes while still keeping the core elements in place. This series is an insta buy for me and is in my top 5 Litrpg. The creativity with the abilities and classes is exceptional. The Heroes in training show emotions and true struggle through the situations they’re put in. The Narration is spectacular and very pleasant. There is some real emotion put into this book.

The cowardice is getting old

getting sick of hearing MC excuse his way out of shit. I would really love to see a change where he gets past it, maybe through trama, maybe he just stop being a little b****, ant starts actually fighting the demons.

Realistic but eh

The story is very realistic in a teenage facing or running away from their fears. This is great and all but doesn't make for entertaining reading.
Maybe if this was some high class literature supposed to make the readers think and discuss sure but no, this is supposed to be entertainment.

it does have good points but 75% is just the MC doubting himself and jumping from one thing to another.

Agreed also the ending was in a bad spot. MC also a punching bad for others and apologizes to others even when he is wronged and stands up for himself.

Other characters do make a point that he has the ability to copy everyone's powers and doesnt and it's s waste. He even learns how to make 100% compatible skill imprints and just does nothing with it.

At the least he should be making a skill library for his tracker like he does with materials. He should be gathering weaves of every single power there is.

No I dont just mean healing and offense. But all them. The crafting one, the mind ones ..all them. If for no other reason then the more powers he knows the more he can put into equipment. He has to know the power like System to put in something.

So even if he is afraid of his skill master due to childhood trauma. He should be making a index of ALL the powers or just asking Quest for access to all thier skill imprints for their machines.
