About this listen

Abby McCarthy has a knack for making friends, and a reputation for being one of the most skilled seamstresses in Boston. But times are tough, and work is impossible to find. Desperate, she agrees to travel to Texas to marry a rancher, Will Skinner.

But Will Skinner has challenges of his own. In the three years of working his ranch, it’s been one disaster after another. He’s at the end of his rope – and when Abby arrives and voices her disappointment in what she finds, it seems their marriage is destined to be over before it begins.

Neither of them is happy with the thought of giving up on their engagement without trying – but what will it take to overcome the hardships confronting them? Hard work and good luck are all well and good, but it’s only love that can see Will and Abby through.

Dramatic Voice, Story Shines Through

The narration was full of energy and passion, which added a lively touch to the story. While it occasionally felt like a theatrical performance, the plot still had its shining moments, especially at the beginning and the end. The book’s description grabbed my attention, and despite the narrator’s dramatic style, the way the story wrapped up was truly satisfying. With just a bit more balance, the narration could allow the storyline to stand out even more. All in all, it was an enjoyable experience that left me feeling positive about the story as a whole!

Good story!

They found out when time gets tough, it was time to not give up on hope. It was a time when everything looked bleak. Love conquers all. The narrator did a great job.
