Publisher's summary

Everleigh Beckett’s plans for Christmas are simple: Forget her ex is getting married to another woman, keep her cat Roscoe in the lifestyle he’s accustomed to, and hunker down until all the Yuletide cheer is over. Hoping to forget the season, she agrees to work extra shifts in the Missing Persons Division so her partner can spend time with his family.

What Everleigh doesn’t realize is that one of the most infamous baby-snatching cases of 1986 is about to land in her lap. Rachel Walters was just two days old when she disappeared from Heritage Hospital, but when Rachel’s mother Sarah receives a letter saying Rachel is still alive, Everleigh wants to give Sarah the closure she so deserves.

Is this a diabolical scam to get an inheritance from a dying woman, or has Everleigh just stumbled on her first Christmas miracle?

Great Christmas mystery

Even though this is a shorter mystery, it is very enjoyable. The case is very interesting as is Everleigh's world: the ex-boyfriend, now her boss, her interactions with the P.I, her friendship with Deja... all in all a character whose adventures on and off the job I want to continue to follow. I am a big fan of M.L. Hamilton's heroines and of Kelley Hazen's narrations. Can't wait for the next one.

A Great Listen

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it extremely enjoyable. An evening news feature catches the eye of the Missing Persons Division. Detective Everleigh Beckett teams up with P.I. to try and solve this mystery and give a dying woman a Christmas miracle. A great story with mystery and humour. I listened to it in one sitting. This combination of author and narrator never fails to draw you into their world.

A real Christmas miracle

I really enjoyed how the narrator brought this book to life. The story was very sweet and precious. It had its ups and downs during the investigation but managed to triumph.

Christmas Miracle

This is an interesting cold case investigation. Everleigh Beckett a detective with Missing person division volunteers to work extra shifts on Christmas and starts with cold case from 1986 of baby kidnapping (Rachael). Along with the help of Isaac (retired cop) and now a private eye hired by Sarah (dying from cancer) who only wish is to find her. Both are great characters and is a heartwarming story with great narration. Only complaint too short. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

A wonderful new series

Solving a cold case is hard enough, but when you’re trying to give someone peace before they pass, it’s at a whole different level. Will Everleigh get to the bottom of things before it’s too late?

I’m such a huge fan of M.L. Hamilton. Her characters are so relatable and her stories really hit home. I’m so happy to know that there’s a new series.

Kelley Hazen is the perfect narrator for the story. She gives each character their own unique voice an really brings out all the feelings and emotions. We’ll done!

Christmas mystery with Christmas spirit...:)

Ms Hamilton never disappoints...:)
This new series of hers, with a new pair of wonderful detectives, turns out to be a great listen, with all you would wish to find in a Christmas Mystery book: an interesting case to be finally - and happily - closed, strong emotions, lots of good humour and characters you'll fall in love with:)

It's quite a short mystery, but it flows perfectly, with the right balance between the "setting of the scene", so to speak, and the case itself being solved. And, more importantly, it shows you both sides of the coin - yes, we want closure for Sarah, but what does it mean for her abducted daughter when she finds out her whole life was a lie? I like the fact Ms Hamilton doesn't flinch, that she shows how one person's happy ending can become hell for another... But, it's a Christmas Mystery, so we do get our Christmas miracle - and that's also nicely done:)

I like the two main characters, they do compensate for each other's weaknesses coming out as a really strong, effective duo. Where she's distant and serious, he's goofy and charming, where she's orderly and cold, he's warm and untidy. But they fit each other like a glove and a hand, and they definitely have a chance at something good in their future - even though Everleigh doesn't want to admit it:)

Narration by Ms Hazen is great, as usual:) She gives life to all the characters, and I like listening to them voiced by her even in those rare instances when I don't quite like a voice she's given a particular person... Even then you do follow her reading with pleasure:)

So, if you like mysteries, if you like your books full of emotions and ringing true, and if you feel a need for a miracle from time to time, grab this story and let it take you on a wonderful literary ride:)

Great Read

Seeking Solace (A Christmas Mystery Book 1) was a great read by M.L. Hamilton. Everleigh Beckett has simple plans for Christmas this year. She wants to forget the fact that her ex is getting married to someone else, she wants to keep her cat Roscoe in the life he is accustomed to, and stay hunkered down until Christmas is over. She takes extra shifts in the Missing Persons Division so her partner can spend time with his family. She never would have thought that one of the most infamous baby-snatching cases of 1986, is going to be landing in her lap. Rachel Walters disappeared from the hospital when she was two days old. Her mother receives a letter saying she is alive, and Sarah wants some closure. I love the life that Kelley Hazen brings to the characters. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
