Publisher's summary

Do you make mistakes? How many times do you forgive yourself for these? I bet you can count the answer to that on one hand if you are like most people. You see, we are conditioned to think forgiveness is a gift we give to others and don't ever keep for ourselves.

I was once the same. I then realized I had gotten to the point in my life where the baggage I had been carrying from past guilt, shame, and judgment was too heavy a burden for me to keep carrying around. I needed to do something about it as I was becoming more bitter by the day. It had started to affect my relationships and work. This is when I came across the concept of self-forgiveness and managed to turn my life around.

If this sounds anything like you, then you need to keep reading; in this audiobook I will share with you the things I learned:

  • The difference between forgiveness and self-forgiveness, while the two share similarities they are both different, and the process of forgiving yourself is slightly different from forgiving others
  • Why we never think to forgive ourselves, when was the last time someone said to you, "have you forgiven yourself for X"?
  • 6 of the main reasons why people find it hard to forgive themselves, including some surprising ones
  • The top reasons why you should forgive yourself and the dangers of you not doing so
  • Simple, cost-effective daily self-forgiveness practices you can start to implement today helping you to feel lighter, less stressed, and anxious
  • How forgiving yourself can help you towards attracting all the good things you want in your life
  • How to forgive yourself even for what you believe are unforgiveable acts
  • Forgive and forget don't always need to go hand in hand
  • When to forgive yourself, timing is everything
  • The benefits to both your emotional and physical health just from doing this simple act which most of us overlook
  • Why self-forgiveness is an act of love and should be part of everyone's toolkit

Self Forgiveness: Why and More Importantly How You Can Forgive Yourself in 21 Days or Less is a powerful guide for anyone who wants to learn some simple and easy ways to start to feel happier with their lives. You too can reduce the emotional baggage you have been carrying around daily and often for many years by simply forgiving yourself by following the tips shared in this audiobook.

A well rounded approach to the issues surrounding FORGIVENESS

What I enjoyed about Self Forgiveness is found in the title as well as in the authors approach. We are often taught that forgiveness is an extension of what we offer others, however this book goes beyond that common approach to show that sometimes the most beneficial act of forgiveness is that which we give ourselves. What I most appreciated is the awareness that this book offers the reader on the benefits of forgiveness and self forgiveness. Which are not only emotional but are also physical and infinitely essential to your health and well being. What sets Self Forgiveness apart from other books is that it shows you HOW to forgive. Which is awesome! As we all know it is one thing to talk a good game about forgiveness but it is quite another thing to help instruct the reader on how to forgive, or ways to approach the act of forgiveness. This book offers several modalities so if one doesn’t suit you, you will find another that does. And in that effort this book puts it’s money where it’s mouth is so to speak. By not only talking about the benefits of forgiveness but in also helping the reader/listener access different pathways on how to do it.

Reassuring and empowering

I'm really good at beating myself up for mistakes and speaking to myself harshly. As a yoga practitioner I love the fact that the idea of Ahimsa, or non-harm can apply to being kind and compassionate to myself. This audiobook explores the idea of self-forgiveness and compassion in a straightforward way. It differentiates between forgiving yourself for your behaviour, and condoning that behaviour, and helps to free you from shame and guilt. I love that the book explains that you feel physically lighter when you achieve this. Thank you.

Set a prisoner free

They say when you forgive someone ELSE, you set a prisoner free, and that prisoner is yourself. The same can be true for forgiving oneself. We keep ourselves enslaved by rehashing failures, self-blame, and self-flagellation. But as James Hollis said, we are all recovering children. With this audiobook, you will learn to forgive the recovering child who is you. No one wins when we blame ourselves. Learn to release the baggage, set yourself free, and live your life lighter, happier, healthier, and more whole. This book will help to get you there!

A much needed book!

I personally have a harder time on myself than anyone could have on me. This book is just what I needed. It details in a comprehensive manner the nature of self-forgiveness. This book provides clues and examples of how many of partake in mild or intense self-destructive behavior that one make us more miserable. It gives the very tangible benefits of forgiving ones-self, and it brings a sense of solace if you tend to habitually beat yourself up. Read this book even if you think you don’t need it.

Not worth the cost.

Nothing groundbreaking in what I heard. Seemed more like a laundry list of things which was unfortunate.
