Light vs Dark

Teenage Siri has spent her life moving from place to place all over the world. When her mom and her settle in Vermont, she finally feels like she found a place to call home. It doesn't hurt that she meets a cute guy right off the bat that likes her just as much as she likes him. But shortly after her arrival she starts having visions of catastrophic disasters around the world. When she confesses this to her mom, she learns that she is descended from fae warriors - which explains why her mom has been teaching her various forms of martial arts since she was little. Before she really has a chance to find her feet in this new world, a family dinner at her boyfriend's house leads to her mother being kidnapped by the dark fae and puts her on the run. Despite being from a dark family, Rowan, her boyfriend, helps her escape and find someone that can help her. This leads to her discovering more about her heritage and meeting up with a light warrior, Alec, who will take her to Valhalla where she gets to meet her father. I loved how the author mixed in bits of history and mythology into the story. This is a coming of age story with a love triangle that is good for all ages.
The narrator is great to listen to and does a great job with the voices, especially of Miko, the talking squirrel. My only complaint is there are quite a few times where parts of sentences are repeated or cut off at the end of the sentence. But this bad editing doesn't detract from the overall story.

Good read/listen, looks to be a good series

Shades of Valhalla (Inner Origins, #1). My first WOW read/listen from author Ellis Logan. I got this book back in November of 2017 and somehow never got around to reading it until I was given an Audible copy of the book & now I’m voluntarily reviewing it & since I own both the Audible & Kindle editions I was able to follow along while being read to. Maya Cointreau’s narration added to the well-written book's enjoyment. A well written, interesting read, with intriguing, well-developed characters. I need to get Fates of Midgard (Inner Origins, #2). (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed it. Everything was great, the story, the performance. There was a couple slip-ups which is why I have the performance 4 stars, but I really enjoyed the performance otherwise.
