About this listen
The dark gods of my people are back, and they’re hunting the shadow-winged — like me.
Being a bush pilot is the third most dangerous job in the world. I’m Piper Tikaani, and I take that in stride. As an Inupiaq Raven Clan shapeshifter—flying is second nature, whether in my supernatural form or tackling the skies in my Super Cub.
Strong winds, rugged terrain, and rough clients are all the excitement I need. But when a family friend is found dead on the roof of his wilderness cabin, I find myself caught in a world of hidden treasure and a new, dark reality.
Now the people I love hide things from me and ancient, terrifying beasts stalk the land.
To survive, I must discover the truth about the treasure, my clan, and myself—which means exposing my secret to the very creatures hunting me: ice age were-predators determined to see me dead.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Story
Compiled by intrepid journalist Neve Pride, this archive of recordings spans the months after dragons emerged on earth, chronicling the communities that sprang up amid the destruction, the scientists, military leaders, and experts searching for a defense, and those steadfastly seeking the missing. Neve and her young daughter Bex travel among the wreckage speaking to those left behind and surviving, against all odds. Neve records everything for history, and in the hopes of locating a clue as to where the dragons came from and how one might stop them.

Story
Gods, monsters, and magical artifacts…what else can go wrong? The old gods were cruel. I know because the stories told by the elders made it clear. Now the gods are back, and it appears it’s my dad’s fault. You know what’s worse? Their idea of fun is world ending. Now I have to stop them from recovering a magical artifact that will bring that to pass. I’m just a shapeshifting bush pilot who wants to stay off the radar—unfortunately, it’s only me, my friends, family, and the few supernaturals we can round up between the gods and the humans. War is coming. I only hope we survive.

I am Inupiar and enjoyed this story
At first, I did not like the AI voice but it grew on me.
i enjoyed the storyline and characters, mostly due to me being Inupiat. I am proud that our people are used in a story of artic mythology and romance.
Big ups to the author and thank you for treating my tribe with respect, mystery, modernity yet mythological. 🪶

Fun Urban Fantasy Adventure
This is a fun new find in urban fantasy. I really enjoyed the story and it flowed really well. The characters are fun and interesting. I find Piper relatable as she isn’t an overpowering stunningly attractive woman who also happens to be an awesome powerful fighter who knows all the things and only 20 years old. Instead she’s could be anyone (on the surface) a woman working and paying bills. Sure she’s a tad EXTRA (ahem she turns into a raven) but she still has to work to pay the bills and figure out how to balance all the things in life.
Definitely would recommend to read, HOWEVER, the audiobook, wish this could have been narrated by an actual person rather than AI as the nuances are lost and it gets a bit monotone.

Horrible Narration
I tried so hard to ignore the narration because i absolutely love this author. However this virtuale voice was horrible. Masuline men sounds like a 12 year old girl. No inflection on personality or reactions. Horrible.
