About this listen

From The New York Times best-selling author Kristen Proby comes an all new paranormal romance set in the mystical city of New Orleans.

I am never alone. Not even when I am alone. I see the unquiet dead, the souls that wander through the French Quarter. They can’t move on, and I can’t stop seeing them. I wear malachite for protection, and I control what I let in. It’s the only way to stay sane.

Everything changes the day Cassian Winslow joins my ghost walking tour and knocks my world off its axis with green eyes the color of the stone around my neck. An unspeakable evil is loose in New Orleans, taking young women and leaving a bloodbath in its wake. More shadows lurking for me. More unhappy dead.

There might be a way to stop it.

Open myself up to Cassian.

If I do, it could spell his death. But if I don’t, it’s mine.

NOLA Magic? Yes please!

This book was so good. I honestly thought paranormal books were all super dark & scary, but I was honestly surprised. The story line was great, the plot was amazing, tie ins with past books - give me, give me! NOLA Magic? Well that's always wickedly fascinating. Narration was on point as well! You did the danm thing Kristen. I can't wait for the next 2 sisters books. 🖤

Criminal Minds Meet Supernatural-sih with Steam

**Audiobook Review**
I had purchased this audiobook awhile ago because I heard Jason Clarke talking about it on a podcast. I'll be attending a book signing that this author is attending and figured I should bump it up to the top of my TBR. The best way for me to describe this book is kind of Criminal Minds meets Supernatural. There are witches, shadows, apparitions, a profiler, a psychopath, and it all takes place in New Orleans (the perfect backdrop for a story like this). Once the heroine releases who the the villain is, and how the story plays out from there, will keep you on the edge of your seat. The story has dark elements that could potentially be triggering for some.

When I purchased the book I thought it was going to be a standalone, which it is, but it isn't. The villain, played by Jason Clarke, appears to play a role in all three books in the series, but each book focuses on one of three sisters and their respective love match. This was my first Samantha Brentmoor audiobook, and she did an amazing her job as Brielle and I can't what to listen to the other two books. I could listen to this book on repeat based on her accent. Lee Samuels voices the hero, Cash, and in the beginning I expect more of a deep harder voice, for this character, really enjoyed Lee's work.

Book 1 *Shadows: A Bayou Magic Novel

I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook as I've never heard any of the three narrators before. The all really brought the book to life! It was like watching a movie in my head! This was my first experience reading a novel/listening to an audiobook by Kristen Proby as well. These characters were well developed, the plot was a wonderfully scary mystery, and it will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end! I loved that the ending wasn't predictable so the anticipation kept me listening straight through from beginning to end.😍

Kristen Proby has found a new genre!

Full disclosure, I am a Proby fan and have read or listened to everything she has written and always loved each story she has woven. Shadows is a new genre of paranormal for her. She nailed it.
Brielle, Millie, Daphne, Cash and Andy will pull you in. I didn’t want to stop listening. I did want to visit Louisiana and these characters. I wanted to be part of their paranormal world. Despite the creepy murderer, I was intrigued and wanted the story to keep going. I am going to be anxiously sitting at home waiting for Millie’s story next.
Kristen did an amazing job, the only thing I am sorry about is that it took her this long to tell these characters stories. Thanks Kristen for another fantastic listen. By the way Jason Clarke as the murderer is creepy as all get out......

Dark and descriptive

It was a good enough story line. However very detailed on the torture scene- I could do without so much of that.

Suspense AND Romance!

I was intrigued by this book. I am all in for a good romantic suspense and then add in the paranormal and I am sold! Ms. Proby does a great job of telling the story of 3 sisters and the gifts they have. Brielle is the oldest sister and the obsession of a serial killer. Cash comes to New Orleans and takes Brielle's tour and is smitten with her. Cash falls hard for the beautiful girl who can see shadows. We get a glimpse at all three sisters and I know that each with get their story. There are twists and turns throughout this story and I was riveted to my seat! It was so good! I can't wait to get the other stories in this series! Loved it!

These narrators took us right into the story! I loved that the bad guy had his own narrator! Well done!

Always love NOLA with Kristen

Don’t read or listen to this book before bed. I love when Kristen goes back to NOLA. Yup, this is the beginning of the 6 being strong enough. You’ll understand that once you read the book.

A strong female lead and a sensitive alpha male lead. Witchy and ghostly happenings plus murder. There might be triggers of kidnapping, torture and murder for some but I loved all of it and couldn’t go to sleep because all I could focus on were the bumps in the night.

Most of all this is about destined love and solving a mystery or two along the way. I can’t wait for the next in the series.

The narrators were wonderful.
