About this listen

SHARPE IS BACK.

The brand new novel from Bernard Cornwell in the global bestselling Sharpe series.

If any man can do the impossible it's Richard Sharpe . . .

And the impossible is exactly what the formidable Major Sharpe is asked to do when he's dispatched on an undercover mission behind enemy lines, deep in the Spanish countryside.

For a remote village is about to become the centre of a battle for the future of Europe. Sitting high above the Almaraz bridge, it is the last link between two French armies, one in the north and one in the south; if they meet, the British are doomed.

Only Sharpe's small group of men – with their cunning and courage to rely on – stand in their way. But they're rapidly outnumbered, enemies are hiding in plain sight, and time is running out . . .

SHARPE’S COMMAND is the brand new novel in the bestselling historical series that has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

A must read for Sharpe fans

If you are a Sharpe fan, you'll not be disappointed. All the characters you know and love come back to life. This takes place in Spain in 1812, between the novels Sharpes Sword and Sharpes Enemy. It'll not disappoint.

Fitting fiction with fact

Teressa, the Needle, Sharpe's wife. Sharpe being as tough as Jack Reacher by Lee Child.

My favorite gutter rat does it again

Armed with a Baker Rifle and more lives than a basket of cats, our boy Richard is at it again. Papa Cornwell expertly attempts to satiate Sharpe’s unparalleled appetite for crappos and mustachios. Don’t take my word for it, see for yourself. Take the kings coin, head back to the peninsula and scout for where the powder smoke is at its thickest. There you’ll find Sharpe’s Command,

Same ol' Sharpe, as good as ever.

I've listened to every title by Bernard Cornwell in Audible, other than the Saxon stories. which is too far back for me. The 17th and 18th centuries are plenty. The stories often have similar storylines but are always entertaining. This one had a bit more military detail, which is fine with me. His wife is in this one, but while I remembered he was married, I thought she was tending the home fires in Normandy. I guess that, and their daughter comes later. Thank you, Mr. Cornwell, for your knowledge and research.

I noticed that we are the same age, so I hope we can look forward to you writing and me reading (listening) for another 21 years.
