Publisher's summary

"This is the thinking reader's romantic suspense, and it's dynamite." (USA Today)

The man of her fantasies is finally hers. Sort of...

Two things haunt forensic anthropologist Hazel MacLeod: the bones of victims of genocide she examines for her work, and former SEAL Sean Logan's rejection. But within days of moving to her cousin's estate to take a much-needed break, she finds herself faced with both.

First, she's called in to examine a mass grave in Virginia; then, her politician cousin receives a threatening letter and insists Hazel needs around-the-clock protection - from none other than Sean Logan. To make matters worse, because the threat to her is classified, Hazel and Sean must pretend to be lovers to hide that he's her bodyguard.

Sean has spent years trying to avoid his boss' sexy cousin, but now he's guarding her 24-7 and even bringing her as his date to a romantic destination wedding. As the heat between them intensifies, Sean can't lose sight of the danger that brought them together. But when bullets start flying, new questions arise. Are the senator's political rivals really behind the threat, or is someone trying to silence Hazel from speaking for the dead?

Loved it

I love all the Evidence books. I was happy that Sean got his book. I hope JT gets his own book soon. Nicol does such a good job narrating as well. I love it when a book or series can catch and hold my attention and that often depends on the narrator for me. I become quite invested in the characters.

Bad guys, politicians, mad scientists, mind control

Bad guys, politicians, mad scientists, mind control, spies...This book has all of the above...and steamy moments between an interracial couple. Fantastic book! Now I need to dive into the other books in the series!!

Sean and Hazels' Story

Finally got the chance to listen to Sean's story. He was introduced earlier in the series and i was eager to learn more about this former Navy Seal. Hazel was introduced in the last book, being the sister of the main female lead. She was annoying and ridiculous as the other female character types created by this author, for a great deal of the book. I dont know why she always writes them the same, which is why i removed a star. She is often way more creative in her male types. Else, the book was great. The story telling was great, even if there are some very obvious moments of complete disbelief(example: Federal agents or contractors revealing redacted documents with their girlfriends or wives. That's BS). Maybe its the Thriller lover in me that made me annoyed that a person would give into feelings vs the freaking federal law when they have been a Senator, Seal, Army Ranger, etc. Doesnt' make good 'spy school' sense to me. Even with these two gripes, I enjoyed this book. I would read it again and i would recommend it. I read a lot of these books and glad to read about interracial relationships and i love the way that this one was told. Keep them coming.

Good, not great.

The rest of this series is so amazing, yet this book seemed to lack something. Unfortunately, I can't pinpoint that was exactly. Maybe the relationship wasn't developed enough, or the primary conflict wasn't delved into as deeply as usual, I'm not sure. I was a little disappointed, especially since this is the last in the series available on Audible, however I did still enjoy it and am glad I listened to it. I always appreciate Rachel Grant's inclusion of social issues in her books, and I liked that she focused on racism and mental health in this one.

The last book ofvgreat series

It is rare fir me to find a series that holds me until the last book. This is an eight book series, and I realy loved all of it. I do not have a favorite book here. I just loved them all. So is the narration, ehe narrator performance was excellent.

Another great suspenseful adventure!!

Love this series. Hope it's not the end???
Every book was fantastic, scenery is vivid and characters you can call in love with.
Highly recommend the entire series so far!

Only thing on audible after book ended a man screeched about the end of the book and hope you enjoyed it.
Very startling. Don't ever use him again. He's the guy who talks before the normal audible spiel.
Absolutely love this author and at the end of all the other books she tells you a bit about what was based on some truth, what wasn't, the history, her experiences ...
Absolutely love that part too.
Huge fan of the series!!!
Thanks to Rachel Grant for the hours of fabulous entertainment.
Audible narration was fantastic on all books in series.

Good, a bit slow to get going.

It’s not literature, but Rachel Grant writes entertaining stories. This one is a bit slow to get moving - a bit too much on the back & forth between the romantic protagonists before we finally get an idea of the crimes going on. The balance between romance and “suspense” leans a bit too much to the romance side. This book also goes after racism and white supremacists, which made it more appealing to me!

Nicole Zanzarella is a pretty good narrator. She does men’s voices better than most women narrators. With this book she didn’t get too breathy or overly dramatic with her female characters. Yay!
