Publisher's summary

At the crux of all addictions is a quest to narrow focus and relieve stress.

Sipping Fear shows you how the catecholamines responsible for desire and fear always act together. Desire is by its very nature a form of fear (like FOMO: fear of missing out). This is what narrows focus and provides temporary stress relief.

Sipping Fear Pissing Confidence reveals how using the catecholamines to relieve stress unavoidably displaces confidence. Hence, the audiobook's title.

Christopher K Wallace is a behavioural science trained counsellor focusing on mental fitness as the advisor to men. With a "colorful past" referenced only in support of the listener, he uses his decades of personal and practical experience to help men reclaim their power to find meaning and freedom. All the men he works with around addictions have resolved their addictions in short order. You can too!

In depth, with great story telling.

Lots of information including different accounts including the author's personal experience. This man does good work. I enjoyed the way the information was delivered. It feels direct, like having a serious man to man no bullshit conversation. Real research without pseudo science or life hacks. Just real experience to take notes from. This book helped me to understand my addiction in a way that got me to remove drinking from my life. It's worth a try.

Life changing

This book was the third read on my growth journey after initiating a divorce. This books identified and clarified some root issues that I need to work on, not just for relationships but for my quality and enjoyment of life as a whole.

Inspired by this book, I just walked up, and introduced myself to a regional director in my company and had a great conversation. The night before, I sat with Vice Presidents and engaged with them about their jobs.

Prior to reading this book, I kept to myself and would only speak when spoken to. I’m not approaching people of higher professional status and am engaging in conversation.

Fantastic book, absolutely worth the read and critical self-reflection. If you can’t initiate engagement with people you don’t know, specifically people who intimidate you, get this book!

A lifetime of wisdom compressed into one book

This book is more of a glossary rather than a single lesson book. Some of the points made a huge impact as soon as I heard them the others will take me some time until I really get them.

Definitely a book I want to reread at least once a year.

He’s a 90s era parole officer, mixed with modern psycho babble. Don’t waste you time
