About this listen
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
ASA JAY, Ph.D., is an aerospace engineering researcher in the Intelligent Systems Division at NASA Ames. She leads the controls team on the STMD Early Career Initiative project Thunderking to advance the guidance and control technologies to enable precision landing for deployable entry vehicles. She is also a sub-project manager on the System-Wide Safety Project, leading a team to develop the monitoring, predictive, and mitigation capabilities that will enable the safe operations of unmanned vehicles in the national airspace. Sky is her first novel. "My lifetime studies have been in the skies. It was a given my first novel would take place in...the sky." Asa lives with her two children and an assortment of barnyard personalities on her farm in British Columbia. She is a frequent NASA speaker and is currently working on her second novel in the Solene series. Her specialty-and dissertation topic-is aeronautical control surfaces in low atmospheric environments. She keeps connected to a remote super-computer from her home office for late-night forays into the atmosphere of Mars on a space vehicle on the drawing board that includes control surfaces in national airspace as well as low-atmosphere drag, braking, and steering. She prefers you use her nickname, "AJ."
