Publisher's summary

Shop owner Skylar Love and her family have lived on the same island her ancestors discovered several centuries ago. Her life isn't perfect, but it's hers. After dumping her lying, cheating boyfriend, she isn't surprised when her brother tries to bribe their best friend to take her out on a pity date. When she finally agrees, her life turns on a dime.

Multimillionaire Luke Tanner made his fortune in New York, building his pharmaceutical company from the ground up. With an upcoming birthday and a longing to return to the one place where he can be himself, he goes home to Love Island to find the family and friends he left behind. His best friend's sister, Skylar Love, has always been off-limits, an unspoken code between friends. When he gets home to find her all grown up and single, he knows it's time he stepped up his game before someone else snatches her up.

With plans to build a lab on the island and move back home, he finally talks her into a date. When the date goes south and someone tries to kill them both, winning her heart takes a backseat to keeping them both alive while they figure out the mystery of who is behind the threat. Her gift of seeing colored energy is the only way to keep them alive, and she will risk more than her heart to keep the people she loves safe. She'll risk her life.

Great Mystery

Luke was a childhood friend, who had moved to New York, and made his fortune.
He had come back to the island to celebrate his birthday, or so that was the story.
Skyler had a crush on Luke since forever! Even though he had asked her out, she felt that was her brother's doing, trying to help with what they thought was a devastating breakup with her ex, so her answer to Luke was no!
However, when the truth comes out, well things were looking up, until someone tried to poison them.
Great mystery story.

Recommended

Overall a good story. It would have been better if it had been fleshed out a bit and not so rushed. There was plenty of material. As it was the characterization suffered the most.

Robin Sitten did okay as narrator. She read quite fast all the way through and although she used some voices it was mostly lost in the swiftness of the pace.

Poor

Struggled to finish. The narrator lacks emotion and is very hard to tell the difference in characters.

Horrible narration!

The narration was so bad I didn't make it through chapter one. I can't believe this is a series.
