Alana

The question is, do I allow this dark moment in time to rob me of the life I could possibly have here? I have never known such horror or fear. If I hadn't experienced it myself, I would have never believed any other living thing could possibly do this to another. The scars may be gone on the outside now, but they will remain forever in my soul. They tell me I can never go back, all that I have ever known is gone. Where does this leave me in the world of monsters? He beckons me, promising me . . . the fairytale . . . the impossible dream. Everything I have ever wanted to hear! But I don't know if I'm strong enough to go forward as long as the shadows of our past pull me backwards.

SoL

I knew she was withholding the truth from me. I had no idea who I held in my arms, until it was almost too late. The moment her true essence was revealed to me, my body reacted, reaching out for the one thing I had been searching for my whole life . . . my Inamorata. The very mistress of my heart and now that I have finally found her. I will follow her through the sands of time . . . no matter how long it takes. I will find my way back to her . . . because she is MINE!

Contains mature themes.

Out In Space

What a wild way to wake up! You find yourself in an alien world and being told this is it. The end is near and all because you’re human. What the Hell!
Oh this book was a roller coaster of scenarios. Now, do not get me wrong it is a fabulous read and it will keep your mind going. It’s the best kind of roller coaster of a read. Enjoy

Enjoyed this book but it’s way too short

I find myself in the same predicament. I really enjoyed listening to this book but it was way too short. I am left wanting more of their story but I know the next book will only give small snippets. Good book overall .

The narrator was able to sound like a man and woman in the book, without an irritating sound in their speaking voice.

I absolutely love this series and the narrator made it come alive even more so. This series seems to me to be more realistic, even if it does fall into the paranormal/alien romance category.

A massive mountain of a man!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: ❤️💙💜💚
Steam: 🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😠☺️😋😍
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Alana - she lost her parents, was forced to sell their farm and still owed money to collection agencies when she got a job as a dancer on a cruise ship. She boarded an airplane to go to the job and was abducted by aliens when they hijacked the plane. She was in stasis for nearly 90 years and wakes up to find she has been sold to a blue female on the space station ecstasy.

The Hero: SoL - he is the second child of the House of DaR. He is a massive blue alien who is larger than everyone on the planet. When he was young, he was mistreated along with his friend who was a little girl he took care of until they were separated, she was taken to learn how to please men and he was sold, but then escaped until his father DaR found him and raised him to be a good man.

The Story: Alana was bought by that same little girl who grew up to be a beautiful woman named Vareena. To get her own freedom Vareena bought Alana to replace her in the pleasure house where she works as a performer and a prostitute. Though Vareena is wanted by an assassin and when she is killed, Alana escapes with SoL, though she is disguised as Vareena.

This series has been fun because each Hero is a different type of alien despite being a father and his sons. The father DaR had 22 sons, each by a different type of female alien as part of some sort of genetics program. I hope more books are added to this series and that they get put on audiobook.

Though this one was a bit shorter than I usually like, since it was less than 5 hours, though I picked it up on sale so it was worth it. I also like that these aren’t overly steamy. I get a bit sick of the smutty alien romance where they spend more time in the bedroom than anywhere else. I like action and adventure in these stories.

This book is told in multiple points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Emily Sutton-Smith and Tor Thom. Tor is perfect as always and has a deep voice which I enjoy immensely. Emily Sutton-Smith also does a great job, she has a soft, feminine voice which I have come to enjoy quite a bit while listening to this series.

Pretty good storyline

The storyline was unique and entertaining; the author has quite an imagination. The narrators did a great job with characters. It was the right length for the story. Will continue series if there are more books to come.

my fav of DaR's son -to-date

I have to say that my trips to Darverius are special to me. I love that DaR found him a woman that was what Earth would call over the hill and past childbearing age. I loved XuL for his kind heart and willingness to become a protector to a human female. That brings us to SoL. I love, love SoL. He was huge and scary, but compassionate and willing to make the sacrifice to protect and allowed himself to be protected.

Alana was stolen from a plane in mid-flight. She was in stasis for 80 years. She was to become the replacement for one slave after being bought like a slave. She was then trained to do the job of that slave. She was then left to take on the life of the slave she was to replace. Things don’t always go to plan. Alana finds that SoL will be her only way out.

SoL knows something is not right with his dear friend. She has called for help. He is a little late, but he is there for her. He finds that the one he meets is not who she is pretending to be. He will not leave until he finds out what happened to his friend. Then he must find out who she is. In the process he finds a woman that could be the world to him. She will be the one meant for him and change his whole world.

We also get to see more of SoL’s brothers and the deadly side of his father DaR. I also feel a bit miffed. There was some breakdown of the brothers. They went for DaR having 28 sons to only 22. SoL says that he has only 21 brothers. I'm not sure if that was a typo or not, but whatever it is I am looking forward to meeting more of DaR’s boys. I will even need to go back and read grandfather’s story, Forgotten.

I felt more in sync with Emily & Tor with this third installment of the House of DaR. I felt comfortable with the two of them. They felt like old friends.

Reasons I enjoyed this book:
Entertaining Easy-to-read Wonderful characters Page-turner Great world building Romantic

Refreshing twist to the genre

I don’t want to include spoilers. But this is not your typical alien abduction, fated mates book. I was pleasantly surprised by the twists. If you like this genre, but you’re looking for something a little different, this book is for you.

I love how strong and resilient the FMC is. The MMC is a fearsome warrior who’s a complete teddy bear around those he loves. Their chemistry is swoon worthy. But I love that the sex scenes occur organically to further the story, rather than the story being an excuse for lots of sex.

Tor Thom has a really deep, resonant voice. Emily Sutton-Smith impresses me more and more with each book in the series. She has a great knack for changing her voice to reflect the different ages and personalities of the FMC in each book.

Worth a credit? Yes!
