About this listen

Cosy up with a mug of hot chocolate for some festive sparkle from MILLION-COPY BESTSELLER Jessica Redland.

Everyone is getting into the festive spirit on Castle Street - snow is falling, fairy lights are glistening and Christmas shopping is underway.

But for Tara Porter, owner of thriving cafe, The Chocolate Pot, this is the most difficult time of the year. From the outside, Tara is a successful businesswoman and pillar of the community. Behind closed doors, she is lonely.

With a lifetime of secrets weighing on her shoulders, she has retreated from all friends, family and romance, and shut her real self away from the world. Afterall, if you don't let them in, they can't hurt you. She's learnt that the hard way.

But as the weight of her past becomes heavier and an unexpected new neighbour moves onto the street - threatening the future of her cafe - Tara begins to realise that maybe it's time to finally let people back in and confront her history. It could just change her life forever...

Starry Skies Over The Chocolate Pot Café is a standalone novel, but best enjoyed after Christmas at Carly's Cupcakes.

Love the story-performance was odd 🥴

While the story was exceptional, the narration was awkward. Tara sounded like an old lady, then I realized she was 35!! Maria and Karen were laughable. I’ve heard male performers do a better woman’s voice. Hard to listen when Karen in the previous book sounded so much better. Also awkward pauses that didn’t sound like real conversation. Performer might be better in a different story

Delightful!

Another charming story from Whitsborough Bay! This time we get to know Tara and her house bunny Hercules. Highly recommended.❤️

Good story - the editing pauses are unbearable

I love Whitsborough Bay and these characters. This is a nice story; most of the conflict happens prior to the reader entering the scene, but that’s okay. It was a sweet journey. But please, re-record the story - the editing pauses are almost unbearable. I don’t know that I could last through another story peppered with those odd pauses. I have never encountered those in an audiobook before and they were extremely distracting, disrupting the flow and magic of the story. Very off-putting.

Weird narration pauses

I typically love this narrator, but starting when Jed has more narration, each time there very long awkward pauses before and after each of his sentences. Makes it really hard to stay engaged. I almost quit at chapter 32, but I’ve always enjoyed Jessica Redlands books so I stick with it. I honestly think it was an editing issue and not an narration issue. But man was it distracting to the story line.

This book made me smile and also cry. I really enjoyed it

I wasn’t sure about this book to begin with but then it became more clear. The author had me going through a range of emotions with this story.

EJ loved it

Oh how this movie touched my heart. Let you know that there’s still love between the foster parents and adoptive parents. And being kind and helpful makes a difference

Sweet story full of feelings

When I first learned about Tara’s history I almost stopped reading the book. I’m so glad it finished it - loved the narration. I am going to UK next summer for my daughter’s wedding - based on this beautiful story I’m going to take a side trip to the North Yorkshire coast. Lovely story.

Love the story, needs new voice/reader

I have listened and loved many series of this author. I love the story lines, the details of the settings/location and so much more but, often times I’ve found myself needing to stop and refocus because the readers voice is just a bit distracting from the story/characters. I feel like the reader age the main characters. I am not English so I’m not familiar with the accents but I wish the reader wouldn’t emphasize these too much.
