About this listen

Oh, is he handsome. And charming. And sexy as all get out. Dr. Lisa Maxwell isn't the type to go home with a guy she barely knows. But, hey, this is Italy and the red-blooded Rafe Sullivan seems much more enticing than cataloging a bunch of dusty artifacts.

After being fully seduced, Lisa wakes to an empty bed and, worse yet, an empty safe. She's staked her career as an archaeologist on collecting the three Furies, a priceless set of ancient Greek reliefs. Now the one she had is gone. But Lisa won't just get mad. She'll get even.

She tracks Rafe to Florida, and finds the sparks between them blaze hotter than the Miami sun. He may still have her relic, but he'll never find all three without her. And they're not the only ones on the hunt. To beat the other treasure seekers, they'll have to partner up - because suddenly Lisa and Rafe are in a race just to stay alive.

I Loved this book!

I love Elisabeth Naughton books and series. The characters are very realistic and their struggles aren’t beyond the feelings any one may have. I truly loved Rafe and his dedication to those he loved. A great romance novel with plenty of action and twists to keep you guessing. Recommended for all!

Action & Heat ! It's all good

Any additional comments?

I just loved Elizabeth's "Eternal Guardians" series so was excited to see her Stolen series released on Audible. I really liked the hero Rafe in this story, who was a treasure hunter. He seduced the heroine (though seduction wasn't his initial plan) and took an ancient relic from her safe.

This book is fast-paced, reads-like-a-movie feel I like when reading romantic suspense. You know how it's usually the hero that has the more interesting "skeletons in the closet" Well, in this one it's the heroine, Lisa, who has quite a past that came back to haunt her in a big way. Not that Rafe doesn't have secrets either, but it was the heroine's story that was put in the forefront which I liked. Rafe and Lisa were both in their late thirties and I thought they acted like their age. Both were both are strong, capable, interesting and well-matched characters and there were plenty of sexual tension between them right from the start of the book. I also liked the secondary characters, which included Rafe's ex-wife--no, there wasn't anything between Rafe and his ex-wife at all except the easy banter between good friends--and Lisa's twin brother, who were great addition to the story and I want to know more about them (good thing these two have their own book!) .

Although there were a couple of slow parts, there were a whole lot of action to keep you listening. Also, I'm happy to say there were no unnecessary archeology or Greek/Furies facts thrown around in this book, just enough to keep things interesting. I haven't read romantic suspense in a while and this book reminded me what I was missing. A solid debut from Ms. Naughton who I think writes like a veteran author in this book and I can't wait to read the next in this exiting series. Elizabeth Wiley does the perfect job narrating, as always. :)

Is it me or?

I was not convinced in characters falling in love. Not even at the end. Lust certainty, but love? In a few weeks? While dogging assassins and crazy sisters? I have hard time believing in such scenarios in paranormal genres with soulmates and such, let alone in this book. Lust is a strong precursor to falling in love, but it has to have more meet in it, beside having sex every five minutes, to make it believable. It is, perhaps, cynical from me, but it’s what I think. There are authors that can pull this of and make me believe, just not this one. To be fair, she did pull it off in her other books, just not this one. There is one more thing that grated. Why does the main villainess has Italian accent? She is a half sister, I get that, but there’s no mention of her being/living outside US. There were other things leaning on unrealistic side in this book, but I ignored it. It is Indiana Jones archeological mystery-romp - romance, after all. Amusing light read it is, if you’re waiting for something better to come along.

Loved it

I enjoyed these characters. They were beautifully flawed. The narration was great, too. I just love it when a book has it all!
