About this listen

Will Darling is all right. His business is doing well, and so is his illicit relationship with Kim Secretan - disgraced aristocrat, ex-spy, amateur book-dealer. It's starting to feel like he's got his life under control.

And then a brutal murder in a gentleman's club plunges them back into the shadow world of crime, deception, and the power of privilege. Worse, it brings them up against Kim's noble, hostile family, and his upper-class life where Will can never belong.

With old and new enemies against them, and secrets on every side, Will and Kim have to fight for each other harder than ever - or be torn apart for good.

Contains mature themes.

Very satisfying conclusion!

Cornell’s excellent narration of this series continues! Love it!

I love, love, love Kim and Will. This book was such a great conclusion to the series. Will and Kim are closer than ever, but the mess they find themselves in is more dangerous than ever. Just like the other two books, the plot of this one was interesting! The e pacing was perfect - not too fast, with lots of action and fun plot reveals. And the setting! There's just so much interesting backstory and context because this is set in the 1920s, because of what the different characters have experienced, and because of all the neat little historical details (like the steam boat and rich houses with electrical lighting). There are also a few characters from previous KJ books that pop up or are mentioned, so that was a nice little treat. I highly recommend this entire series. I love that these aren't traditional swoony romances. Kim and Will have a lot of baggage to sort through and overcome, which just makes the conclusion of this book even more satisfying.

Fantastic series!

I bought the first three books in Charles's newest series. I have to say that all three books are fantastic! Well written, fast-paced, very likable and believable characters, and a time period that one can easily relate to. The action is nonstop and the resolution is perfect. I actually stayed up until 5 am in order to finish listening to the third book. K. J. Charles has come a long way with her writing. 90% gripping story 10% m/m romance/graphic sexual scenes. This is a good balance. Cornell Collins has to be one of the best, if not THE best, reader for these stories. His voice is perfect. He does a range of voices and accents and all of them done masterfully. I will eagerly await the fourth installment in this series.

Sad to see it end!

I really enjoyed this trilogy. KJ Charles writes historical mm like no other. She makes me feel like I'm right there in the story with Kit and Will.
This story was full of the mystery and intrigue I've come to expect in this series, and we finally get some answers and resolution.
Family is also at the forefront, with Kit's awful father being awful.
Will and Kit's relationship is solidified- I just love them.

Cornell Collins is perfection as usual!

A Lovely Finale (maybe!) to a lovely series

I adored these characters throughout the entire trilogy. Even when I wanted to scream in frustration at the protagonists half the time, haha! I will definitely be rereading this whole series for weeks.

Another amazing work by KJ Charles and I can't recommend it enough!

Stellar End to A Wonderful Trilogy

KJ Charles does it again with another exciting thriller involving Will Darling and Lord Arthur. I am amazed at the author's imagination and ability to create such wonderful characters while combining historical context and social commentary. Her work is genius. I only wonder how she can write gay male love scenes so well as a woman. But I am certainly not complaining!

Great ending to this masterful series

Lovely last installment of this series. I loved how Kim and Will’s relationship further developed. It was again perfectly weaved in through the mystery at hand. This volume was a bit more difficult for me to follow via audio, because of the larger amount of characters. But the narration was totally worth it, very well done. I especially loved Kim’s voice, my favourite character.
