Continued story with emotion

This is the continuation of Allison's Secret. It begins with the group finding more bad guys and helping people to survive. The point of this book is that everyone you help may not be appreciative.

The book goes into great detail about the healing aspects of herbs and oils. It also is informative and helpful in pointing out other aspects of living without modern power and conveniences.

Book three should prove very interesting indeed.

The narration is exceptional and very clear and the range of voices is great.

Great Series!

Loving this series! Society is broken by solar flare but in one little corner of the world they are over coming trials of the new world. The author does a fantastic job with the story and the characters. The narrator does an amazing job interpreting the characters and bringing them to life. Great series and narration. Great addition toy library and a book that I could listen to several times.

Great Story with great narration

I did not listen to Book 1. This story is a story of people coming together to help each other. Not everyone is there to be helpful. As in society there is always a trouble maker. I enjoyed this story.

The narration is super. Another great job by J Scott Bennett. I have listened to other books by this narrator and they have all been excellently narrated.

What an amazing second book in this series!

After solar flares knocked out power to a large portion of the Northern Hemisphere neighbors come together to help out and protect each other. This book will have you thinking about how people react in stressful situations. Some can’t handle it and some are just kind souls that do what they can.
This book will have your emotions in an uproar. I think is a great story and extremely well written. I definitely enjoyed listening to this book and I definitely recommend it!
The narrator had a wonderful way of bringing the characters to life and making you feel as though you are right there with the characters and that is the best type of narrator.

Great second book in the series

I really enjoyed this second book in the series. From neighbors helping neighbors, to cold-blooded killers and heart-breaking betrayals, this story is full of tension, drama and has lots of survival and herbalist tips. While it still has its action filled parts, the story centers more on how the community comes together and utilizes individuals’ skills to help them survive as a whole. The characters have depth and you easily become embroiled in their everyday life, but I am still a bit confused as to why Alison still does not like or trust Riley, even though he has proved himself honest and reliable many times over. It will be interesting to see how this develops in the next book. The narrator, J. Scott Bennett, did a great job of bringing the story to life. The different characters were easily distinguishable, and his pace fit just right. I will look forward to listening to the next book in the series.

Book 2 is just as good, if not better than book 1!

Allison's story continues and her world just continues to change since the solar flare. I had a tough time putting it down! The continuing saga of the 'I'm not a prepper' prepper causes me to wonder if some catastrophe happened, would we be even a little bit prepared? I don't think so. I highly recommend the book!
Scott Bennett is the perfect narrator for this story. Scott brings the story to life with his story telling style and personality to characters. I find it hard sometimes to find a quality narrator, but Scott never disappoints!

An exciting and interesting second book

I love this series in audiobook. After a solar flare knocks out power in parts of America, Allison and her husband James open up their farm to take if family and friends and to build up a community. There are cold-hearted killers on the loose who are hungry and looking to steal.
The narration was perfect; the story was exciting and interesting with the author teaching about herbs and tinctures to improve health. Allison brought in neighbours who had skills to share, and they taught the children to add normalcy to the long days of manual labour for all.
I was disappointed in Allison's ambivalence to Riley; he worked tirelessly to make sure she was protected and everyone stayed safe from harm. Maybe the next book will capture this relationship and bring new information to light.

The end...

I loved listening to more of Allison's story. The good and the bad makes you really wonder what would happen in a post apocalyptic world. My only complaint is that I feel like the book ended too abruptly.

Great book until the last 45 min.

I would have given this book 5 stars, except the last 45 minutes of the book do not further the story in any way shape or form. I got this book for a story about life after a solar flare knocks out power. Having a 45 minute herb class at the end was not necessary. If you like hearing the same words defined 30 times, then the last section is for you. If not, skip it entirely.
