About this listen

The Awakening, a novel by Kate Chopin, was first published in 1899. Set in New Orleans and on the Louisiana Gulf Coast at the end of the 19th century, the plot centers on Edna Pontellier and her struggle between her increasingly unorthodox views on femininity and motherhood with the prevailing social attitudes of the turn-of-the-century American South. It is widely seen as a landmark work of early feminism with themes that are still relevant today.

enjoyable

there are lots of characters, or so it seems, so it was a little hard to follow. the plot seemed to be lacking. the writing was good, lots of great vocabulary. I guess it just wasn't my kind of book.
the narration was good, maybe could've done a better job on the different voices for each characters. but over all enjoyable.
