Editorial reviews

Piracy on the high seas is a classic theme that can be found in stories through the ages, as the compelling collection The Best Pirate Stories Ever Told demonstrates. In a spirited performance from Keith O'Brien, listeners are treated to swashbuckling and rum-swigging stories from writers as diverse as Plutarch, Mark Twain, Joseph Conrad, and Robert Louis Stevenson. As O'Brien narrates a detailed history of piracy alongside the tales of everybody's favorite villains on the water, his voice takes on a bit of the salty, rough inflection of pirates themselves, convincingly transporting listeners into a daring and dangerous world of criminal nautical adventure.

For the narrator... it is more properly LOO-ard and WINN-ard, NOT LEE-ward and WIND-ward. Terms with which any sailor is familiar. Minor complaints but they really stand out. Stories are on the bland side.
