Publisher's summary

A system that humans shouldn't have access to. Abilities no one dreamed possible.

After an accident which should have killed her, Ella's life is torn asunder. She's on the wrong side of the galaxy, when she's told her husband is a liar, a cheater, a murderer.

Unwilling to believe what she's being fed, she uses her new, unfathomable abilities to break free of her "saviors" to make her way across the stars. Toward Earth. Home. Her family. And the truth.

Good Side Story to Series

Rather than book 4, this felt more like a book 3.5 side story to me. I suppose the next book will determine if this one is essential to the story line. In addition to the change in characters we follow and the narration, the style of this book changes significantly. Half of it almost felt like a romance novel. It was surprising, but a well done and interesting read. I also felt like the author handled the short length better here. Perhaps having a shorter story arc with this being a side story helped? I didn't feel like as much was getting glossed over. Overall, not the book I expected but it is an enjoyable one.

This was my first experience with SNP as a narrator, and I was pleasantly surprised. Her performance has a smooth flow, she conveys a good amount of emotion, and she has enough range for me to easily track who is speeking. Very nice performance and I would welcome hearing more from her.

I was given a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this honest review.

Sci-if Romance Novel

This book was a bit of a departure from the other books. It follows the earth wife and is about her love affair with an alien. The plot doesn’t progress much but we do get a different perspective of events in this “world.” The narration was very well done.

Just Keeps Getting Better

Check out my review of the first three books in this series: The Bright Lord, Retaliate, The Bright Fight. The Bright Revelation takes a different turn and introduces a “new” main character. We find out very quickly that we know who Ella is (but since the synopsis doesn’t spoil it, I won’t either). The parts leading up until we realize who she is were interesting and once we figure it out – it gets even more interesting. Numerous times through, she’ll mention who she is or who she knows and it’s one of those moments where everyone in the room stops. It’s pretty cool.

Very similar to the introduction of The Bright Lord, we meet Ella as she’s starting to learn about herself and her new surroundings. She can “see” her bright and some other things, but she’s completely blown away by them and has no idea what’s going on. Oh, and she’s being held captive by aliens/creatures she’s never seen or heard of before. It’s all very dramatic.

Then Knowles pulls the rug out from under me and introduces some love interest – I’ve never really listened to Sci-Fi Romance, but when and how Knowles wrote it, the way that it started to where it ended up – I ended up really enjoying the romantic scenes. I didn’t expect to, but hey, no complaints. The inner battle that Ella has is playing in the background throughout the story was probably my favorite part of this. She feels, basically, two ways at the same time and she has a lot of trouble understanding and coming to terms with that.

Similar to the other stories in this series, as soon as we start to feel like things are okay – they get thrown into chaos again. Set among the same issues that were happening in the first three books, The Bright Revelation was excellent, telling a story from another point of view and showing us the female side of things. Not just in this world, but things that we thought we knew and understood in the first three books.

Add in the excellent narration from Stephanie Nemeth Parker who took this series over from Steve Campell (since the POV and gender switched) and you have a book that I thoroughly enjoyed. I know this is considered book four in the series and it definitely is, there would be spoilers to the first three books if you read it without them – but it’s a “brand new” story or at least a brand new point of view.

Not long enough...

I prefer audio books to be at least around 10 hours but the story was pretty good if not as long as I would like.

Good story and Narration

Very interesting story, but I did think that there could have been a bit more sensory description used. The MC could have also had a bit more of an emotional reaction in the beginning as well.

Narrator did a good job overall. If this had been done as a duo, I think it could have expanded the range of voices used for both sexes.

A book I didn't know I needed!

This wasn't the story that I expected... What I anticipated was Tytan, Juteng, and their cohorts to go rushing off to finish a war that NEEDS to be ended. Alex Knowles knew better than that, and gave me a book that I didn't even know I needed! Not only did I Absolutely need the book but it was also a tale that Tytan needed to be told! A closing of sorts, of his previous life on earth, thus making the overall story arc even better! Not only did it give Tytan new information, vital to his war efforts, it delivered the information from a very unexpected source... Tytan's human wife, Ella!
This action-packed story is artfully narrated by Stephanie Nemeth Parker (another unexpected, and quite pleasant surprise)! So be sure to grab the audio version of The Bright-Revelation,  and enjoy!

Great Addition!

I enjoyed listening to this side of the story. It was a very interesting and intriguing story of Ella and what happened to her. It also gave a glimpse of the evil force in the works.

Stephanie Nemeth Parker did fantastic here. She gave a solid performance.

First "side" story I truly liked

Typically I do not like side stories as they just seem like filler to me. Add in the change in narrator and my hopes were a little low coming into the book.

Boy was I wrong...

Stephanie Nemeth Parker does an insanely good job narrating the voices and showed a good range. The change between narration and Ella speaking was slightly different to the point it felt like the same character but the narration was an inner monologue.

Alex's writing keeps getting better and better each novel. And while book 4 may seem like a side story, I feel it'll have some major components of book 5 tied into actions of book 4 that you may miss if you don't give it a listen.

New POV, Same Intriguing Story

I was a bit concerned at first when I heard book 4 of The Bright was going in a different direction. Luckily, if you've enjoyed the series this far there is no need to fear. Book 4 adds a certain depth to the overall series. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.
