Great Mystery Romance!

This is the first book in the Carlswick Mysteries Series. The storyline is interesting, and intriguing. I liked the characters, the mystery, the history, and the romance. Addison Barnes did a great job with the narration. Looking forward to listening to The Carlswick Treasure, the next book in the series. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.

Pretty good for YA

I initially picked this book because I saw "WWII" and I was looking forward to a historical book. While this was based in modern times with only ties to the past, I still enjoyed it. A young, plucky girl wonders about historical family fueds and works with her would-be enemy to uncover a generations old mystery. It was a little short and could have been fleshed out a bit more, but I still enjoyed reading this. I was given a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Enjoyable read

My second read from author S.L.Beaumont & her debut novel, The Carlswick Affair is well written, fast paced, interesting & intriguing storyline. A good well-written romantic suspense. I can see me reading more from this author. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Stephanie Cooper comes to her grandma's before starting University and meets a nice young man on the train. Turns out there is a family grudge against their families and they are told to stay away. What really happened all those years ago? Stephanie Cooper and James Knox try to find out what happened and find out there is still some shady business being done in both families.

Very delightful read, loved the two characters. James is one you love and hate at the same time.

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it!!

A new series is always a joy to discover. This one was excellent.

I loved the mystery and the search for the truth. I loved how Stephanie, the main female character, went about uncovering clues. She was an every woman in her search, not a know-it-all. Kudos to the author for that!!

The romance that played out in the backstory was fun too! That seems to be the catalyst for the second book in the series and I'm already smiling.

The narration had some wonderful elements to it as well.

An excellent Y/A story with a twist!

Reviewer: Teresa Fallen Angel

Summary:
Stephanie returned to Carlswick to stay with her grandmother for the summer before starting university and hopes to see spend time with her childhood friends. She never expected to meet James Knox a member of a band she follows and is immediately attracted to him. His initial bad boy attitude is one that Stephanie doesn’t appreciate and not attractive. Things quickly change bringing them together until an old family feud threatens to tear them apart. Stephanie is determined to find the truth behind the feud, but unknown forces will go to any length to keep the past hidden. Stephanie and her friends are placed in danger leaving her to wonder could James and his family be behind this as he tries to get her to leave the past alone.

This was a fast paced and riveting y/a suspense story where the love of generations was put to the test. I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I loved how the audio-book version of this story came to live as the narrator gave each character their own unique flair.
